Packaging Help!

A lot of my items come in sets and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to inexpensively package them for shows. Right now I'm just putting a belly band stamped with my shop name on them. I guess I'm worried that people are going to want to look at each individual item in the set and I'm going to be constantly re-banding things! But at least then I CAN reband them and I try to band loosely enough that I can just slip it back on...

Does anyone think the belly band thing isn't a good idea? Any better ideas?

Re: Packaging Help!

I don't know what a "belly band" is.

But at shows you could leave a set out for customers to touch and handle. While keeping the other sets tied of with a wide thick ribbon or sure with the belly band.

I sell lavender sachets and sleep pillows. I leave one of each out for people to fondle, then the others are all packaged in clear bags tucked inside handmade gift boxes sized to fit.

Re: Packaging Help!

My gift tags are sold in sets so I have the packages in sealed plastic up front for people to poke through, but also have wrapped 'gifts' and wine bottles displayed along the back of the display for buyers to touch the tags and see how they look in action!

Re: Packaging Help!

My terracotta coasters are tied up with jute twine and I leave one set untied so people can see them.

Re: Packaging Help!

I have no idea what a 'belly band" is but I'm not sure I'd want to handle one.

I've found that the most successful shows have the items where the complete set can be seen easily if each is different.

People like to pick up and touch the items they are contemplating purchasing.

Re: Packaging Help!

LOL, a belly band is just a thin band of paper around something - a box, an invitation, etc. I've just been stacking my items neatly and wrapping the band of paper around them to keep them together. With my larger items, you can still see all of the individual designs in a set, but with some of the smaller ones you can't really :-(

I like the idea of leaving at least one of each type of thing un-banded so people can see what it looks like in more detail.

Re: Packaging Help!

I sell cards at my shows and put each one in a clear cellophane sleeve and include a copy of the inside sentiment on a separate slip of paper and slide it in the back so no one has to actually touch or open the card. I think I would do the same for some of your other items, as well as having one open for people to see.

Re: Packaging Help!

Is it possible to put them in some sort of clear resealable bags? I think they make cellophane bags with resealable sticky strips on them. I like the idea of having samples sitting out so people can look at those instead of taking them out of the packages.
