Need some ideas / help with table layout.

I just signed up for my first Craft Fair and found out the spaces are 5' x 10'. With that said they also told me that I need to be able to walk around to the back of my table(s) and have space to sit behind the table(s). Trying to figure table configurations??? I think I would need 2 spaces to be comfortable. I own (2) 6 foot tables and (3) 4 foot tables. Any ideas??

5 feet wide and 10 feet deep? that seems kind of odd. can you verify with them that it's not the other way around? usually the space is wider than it is deep....if it IS that way, that's going to be VERY interesting!!

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

5 wide by 10 deep is pretty common actually. Since tents are 10x10 I've seen a few fairs that sell "large" booth at 10x10 and then smaller booth that is half the space so 5x10.

What I usually do is put a 6' table down the long side right up at the front and my 4' table across the width behind it. So it basically forms a giant upside down L. This leaves me about 2.5 feet in the back and about 1 foot to get around the edge of the short table so I can get to the front again when I need to.

It is a little tight for me but for busy shows i'm on my feet the whole time anyway so my chair stays folded up.

10 Feet Wide and 5 Feet Deep, it's really strange to me. So If I take 2 spots it would be 20 feet across and still 5 feet deep,.

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

Here, booths are commonly 10x10 or 8x8. Sometimes the smaller spaces will be divided up into smaller, narrower booths. I agree, you need to see how it is laid out. They are often used as just a table that you set behind. But, 5 ft deep would give you more space & Victoria's lay out would work well. If it is 5 ft wide & 10 ft deep, that's a little strange!

Well I'll say that there are two shows in my area that split booths like that 10x10 for a big one and half size for people who want a smaller one so maybe that is a local thing here.

But for the OP my set-up will still work but you'll have a sideways L.

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

Many of the indoor holiday shows here have tight spaces like that which are only 5' deep and 6' or 8 wide. At the ones which don't require a table we use a combo of our hat tree and 6' tall gridwall (which we cover with cloth because grid is so ugly) with hat hooks and mirrors. Sometimes we bring a little sewing machine table that no longer has a machine in it - it's compact and versatile.

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

One I do every December is 5' deep by 10 feet wide and they advertise it as 5'x10' as well. You'd probably need to get 2 spaces with all those tables so it's not too cramped.

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

I think I may use 2 four foot tables(: or see if I can split a second space with my friend? That way I could do 2 six foot tables..I need to go sew! LOL

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

You can use two of your 4' tables and have 2' to get around behind the tables. If the 4' table are only 2' wide, like mine are, maybe you could fit one of the 6' tables behind them, for extra depth, and then squeeze yourself into the side.

I think this calls for putting pencil to paper - draw a scale diagram of the space and your tables and chair and play around!

How much is the booth fee? I'm probably too cheap to get two spaces, so would squeeze my wares in, but that's just me!

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

The fee is only $25, and I am brainstorming on using height as much as I can. Thanks for all the ideas:)

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

I do two holiday shows at schools and the spaces are 5 ft deep by 10 ft wide. At one show I use their 8 ft table, which is 30 inches deep and I have a stool to sit on behind, though I'm so busy at that show that I spend most of my time standing. For the other I use 2 of my 2x4 ft tables across the front, then I put a small table at the end that's about 16 inches wide and I don't care that I cant get out of my space. I can move the small table if I have to get out which will only be about two or 3 times per show. It's tricky to get all of my stuff on the table, but I cut back on display stuff and it works.

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

at one venue I do you get one 6 ft table and space to sit behind the table and thats it, the venue lines the tables 2 sidexside with about 2 ft. between every 2 tables so you can get out. People are very creative with the space they are suppose to use to sit.

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

So I ended up buying 1 1/2 spaces to give my 15 feet of retail space. I used 3 - 4ft tables and my stuff was still too crowded, I would need 2 full spaces next time, it just seems so long to me. Also I need to come up with a different way to display my corn heating pads. My original idea didn't work out at the last minute so I need to work on that.

Here are some pics:

Re: Need some ideas / help with table layout.

Maybe place one 4' table mid-way through the ten foot deep space and one six foot table along the one side. Giving room for customer to come up to the four foot table and then reach to the right to the six foot table. Giving you ONE foot of space to go between your four foot table and back of the booth.

IF the four foot table is mid-way through the booth that still leaves you five feet behind that table for your inventory and to sit.

Okay, like a pinched "L" but inverted.
