Mannequin Help

Hi All

I have seen some really awesome jewelry displays that use mannequins wrapped in either linen, muslin or burlap. Not the ones that have writing all over them or say "Paris" but rather just simple mannequins in those fabrics.

I have searched and searched for them as I am now ready to add some to my jewelry displays but can't find any.

Do any of you guys know where I might looK?

Thanks

or the little display size ones that are only about a foot high?

Re: Mannequin Help

I'd like to find a couple life size one's that I can sit on a table if I wanted. I had not run across the website you posted so Thank You. I''m sure I can take the stand off it I wanted however having a stand is nice as well.

I'd also like to find a few smaller ones as well.

I'm using this display as an inspiration. NOT MINE!! I just really like how it looks.

Re: Mannequin Help

Rio Grande has several smaller mannequins covered with hemp or linen and some polystyrene ones that look like old polished wood.

Re: Mannequin Help

I recently bought this one through JoAnn.com and they had free shipping. It's very light weight and comes apart. You could use it on a table by taking the base off. I also liked that it comes with several different covers. And I plan to make a cover for it (by deconstructing one of the covers provided to make a pattern) that matches my logo colors/fits into my booth theme.

And I would also search online using the words "dress form" since that is what it's called on joann.com

Re: Mannequin Help

Oh - I love this one Liz. Thanks for posting.

One question - when you say light weight - if I were doing an outside show and a wind blew do you think it would blow over? No problem if so, was just curious re: definition of light weight.

Re: Mannequin Help

I use my sewing manniquin which I got for $80 second hand. They sometimes come up for sale at the sewing shops for $180 but they are reg $400 in Canada. I would check your local used listings :) Mine has a stand but it comes off to just have the body piece to place on my table. Easy to transport! :)

It's light, so I would tie it somehow if you're outside.

Re: Mannequin Help

I also just found this listing on Etsy for a pdf pattern to make your own 24 inch high mannequin:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/94094210/pdf-tutorial-to-sew-your-own-24-tall?ref=shop_home_feat

And yes, it would blow over in the wind if it wasn't weighted down. So if you were going to use it on the table only I think I would figure out a way to connect it to a wide base or maybe a way to put something in the hole on it's bottom side that you could clamp to the table - I hope this makes sense. And I plan to put a weight (probably a sand bag) over the base when I use it standing up outside.
