Letting your clients know you take credit cards

One more question. In your booth - how do you show that you take credit cards? Or is it even necessary because people will expect that you do?

Thanks again!

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

Visa and Mastercard gave me signs that I can post. I don't bother at my large show because, as you say, everyone expects that I do.

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

We have the sticker that came with our Square credit card processor displayed on an acrylic holder that we put postcards with our contact and upcoming show info. Customers usually just ask anyway. Often we mention that we take credit cards when we sense it will help get the sale.

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

I've bought a couple of sturdy plastic tent signs to set on various tables in my booth. I've tried using the stickers from Square but they didn't work well for me (I think customers didn't see them).

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

I believe a sign is important because people don't always like to ask questions. While some may miss seeing any sign, others will see and then move forward with a purchase.

Originally we had stickers provided by our merchant company, then my partner took the credit card logos and made our own color printout on card stock that is taped high on our jewellery display. ...around eye level.

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

I have a sign and I also add "I can take cash or credit card." when I tell them the total.

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

I mounted the sticker that Square sent me in a small, decorative frame that sits, at eye level, on my display. Customers will still ask though.

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

We use the stickers and little folding cardboard signs that we got from Square. Like Julie said, even if you have them plastered all over the place, some people will still ask.

I've had people staring at the Square Visa sign, and then turn to me to ask me if we accept credit cards. I've also had people staring at our price list, then turn to me to ask me how much is this or that.

Go figure, lol.

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

My Square sticker is in a decorative frame, usually set up on a table. I also let people know during checkout!

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

When I got my Etsy reader, it also included a credit card sign as well as a box to hold/prop it up. I place it on my highest riser so that it's as close to eye level. At one show, a lady a couple of feet away from my booth pointed to my table and said to her friend, "see, they take credit cards."

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

If you don't have the signs from the Etsy or Square readers, they're also available on Amazon or Office Max (probably even Ebay).

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

I don't find it necessary to post signs about accepting credit cards. Most people either assume that I do or they are not shy about asking. I will occasionally remind a customer that I can accept plastic if they seem unsure.

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

I have 1 laminated sign on each table, or on my wall if I have hanging stuff.

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

I use the stickers and little card tent Square provides. Other than that I just let them know by saying it. :D

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

I made tent cards and put a couple on my table, but lots of people don't see them and ask "You don't take cards, do you?"

Re: Letting your clients know you take credit cards

My Square credit card reader came with signs of all shapes and sizes. I chose one and put it into a Plexiglas holder and display.
