Labor Day Weekend Shows?

How many of you have done shows on Labor Day weekend?

Did you have a good turnout of shoppers? Were you happy with your sales?

This is only my second year to be vending on Labor Day weekend.

Its too hot here for shows right now and the weather unpredictable...ok it is predictable...its gonna rain and rain big sometime between 1pm and 5pm every day, big winds, water by the buckets, lightening...then there is the skeeters and no seeum...

I've done a number of shows on Labour Day weekend in the North country and they have been extremely successful .


But in each case it was the show that was the main 'attraction' and it was in a high weekend traffic town.

I will let you know after this weekend :) I am attending my first big show - local attraction (WI State Cow Chip Throw & Festival). Promoters say it brings 40K to our town of under 8K. Many come for the throw, the beer tent/music, the parade and the 5k/10k walk/run and lots of other activities. However, many also come for the arts & crafts (juried) show! I've walked the show as a buyer for 20 years and look forward to it. Many shoppers, (and buyers as many folks are carrying bags of filled with their purchases). Lots of variety. My product is a little different than most that attend so I have now idea how this type of product with do at this event.

I suppose each is different, so like some of the regulars here say...walk the event the year prior to attending to get a first-hand idea of how it looks, feels, and sells. Good luck and enjoy your show!!

I am doing the same show I did last year, because I did well, but don't know about this year. They are calling rain. :(

I'm doing a small show on Cape Cod at a local community center this weekend. Artisans have a choice of being indoors or outdoors, and when given a choice, I always opt for indoors. That way the weather is never a factor and we don't have to struggle with setting up a tent.

This will be my third year doing a Labor Day weekend show. It is a yearly show that draws a great crowd and has been very successful for me. The weather is always an issue with outdoor shows but they are predicting a pretty nice day so I have high hopes of a good crowd that is anxious to spend some cash.

Its always our fair season then....now. So, no show travel.

My monthly show fell on Labor Day weekend last year. I did well, thanks to a couple of out-of-town visitors.

This weekend I'll be at a weekly market in a touristy area. I have 'walked the show' in the sense that I've been selling there since February. :) The other vendors say Labor Day is about the same as Memorial Day, but this year's Memorial Day weekend was rainy and traffic was slow on the Monday.
