How-to Build a PVC Pipe Frame

This past weekend I did a show using a brand new frame we'd built using PVC pipe. Lots of vendors came up and asked me about it and several said they'd stopped setting up to watch how our display went together. There were also a few of you that asked in the "show me your booths" thread how I'd done it, so I thought I'd write up a (not so) quick tutorial on how to build one yourself. I hope it's okay that I share that here! Maybe it will help out others. I love this frame, because it went together super quick, and cost less than $100. A cheap, easy way to make walls for your indoor booth and keep shoppers from looking through your booth (and protect you from possible unsightly backsides of taller displays from neighbors).

Anyway, I just finished the blog post so here is a link if you're interested:

Re: How-to Build a PVC Pipe Frame

I'm not currently planning to make that because of financial issues, but I may do so in the future. I just wanted to say thank you for providing such a comprehensive guide to putting a frame together. I'm sure many of us will find it useful!

Re: How-to Build a PVC Pipe Frame

Glad you all enjoyed it :) I liked this frame so much that I wish I could set it up again this weekend! Unfortunately, it's an 8x6 space this time. Boo. Super easy set up, relatively cheap to make, and transports much smaller even than a canopy :)

Re: How-to Build a PVC Pipe Frame

I just built this structure (but haven't used it at a fair yet) and I'm having trouble putting to together! The pvc connectors are so tight fitting that they are really hard to get on and off. I'm afraid if I try WD40 it will make a mess on my drapes. Any other ideas?

Re: How-to Build a PVC Pipe Frame

I ended up using a rubber mallet to get the pieces together and apart. Works great!

Re: How-to Build a PVC Pipe Frame

Your welcome everyone! Angie got her plans from the design I shared long ago on Craftster and sewforum. The sketch she linked to is my sketch, my photo, and my design. Sure do wish I posted my website on that sketch! Anyway, you can customize this any way you want.

Angie, if your booth is smaller, all you have to do is use shorter connector pipes. If your booth is only 8 fee wide for instance, only use 4' sections instead of 5' sections, and the same for the depth of your booth. If it's only 5'deep, for instance...just use one section of side walls instead of both. This will give you a depth of 4' instead of 8" . It is a very versatile booth, and easy to break down and set up. You can hang your curtains on before you assemble the top tubes through a casing, or use shower hooks if you have button holes, or curtain rod clips. Any more questions, please feel free to ask. Here's a link to the sketch. http://www.flickr.com/photos/18784537@N04/9754317714/
