First fair- need help

Hey all! I have my first fair coming up in 3 weeks and 3 other fairs after that. I'm wondering how many items I should plan on bringing. Is it better to have more variety or multiples of the same item? Any advice is appreicated.

You can't sell it if you don't bring it.

That said, you don't want to cram your booth so full with product, your customers cant actually see anything. You want your display full, but not overwhelming.

Multiples are fine, but put out a variety that showcases your style, and represents various price points (if you have them). If they are looking for something else, let them know you have back stock.

If you will be taking custom orders, be prepared with a form for details, be sure to get payment (at least 50%, if not 100%!) shipping info and their contact info, and be sure to give yours.

Good luck!

Re: First fair- need help

Hi Kaleigh,
I have been doing craft shows for 25 years, I agree with the comment "you can't sell it if you don't have it". Check to see if there is a space you can store your back stock? Blended shows often have a place to store, and many will have the people working fill your booth if it starts to look empty. We always post something that says " stock in back" so they know where to look. If no and you have space under your table, store full boxes and put empties in your car.

Personally, I like my booth to be very full, I have a lot of humor in signs I make and I alway's put them front and center to draw people into my booth laughing with their friends.

I would go with variety of items since you can never tell what is going to sell until you start to have consistent sellers. I hope this is of some help to you, have a great show and remember to have fun!

Having a variety of products (if your line looks pretty cohesive) is also a great way to see what people are interested in--it can often be different than what sells online. You can always have backstock, so yeah, I bring everything I can.
