Dress form / display form ideas

Hi. I had my first craft fair last Friday. It was great, but got me to thinking that I need a better way to display my aprons - some have ruffles and a hanger just doesn't show them off well. Any suggestions?

Re: Dress form / display form ideas

I got a dressform from HomeGoods several months ago, and at least at the stores near me, they're still for sale. I think they're about $50.

You could always wear one of the ruffle-y ones yourself, too, and if you have a friend helping you, she could be another model.

I've seen some people use silhouettes of people cut out of plywood in interesting poses, painted black. They were either proped up with a pole or attached to some kind of backdrop (like gridwalls). It actually looks pretty good. They are flat, but it gives an idea of what the item will look like when worn. I have a friend who sells neck warmers and she has cut heads with necks out of plywood, she painted them and displays them on her table. Again, they are flat but they do the job.

Get some good photos of a model wearing them, blow up the photos on vinyl, and hang the pics on your tent sides and back. It draws attention to your booth and shows the aprons in action. Be sure to have a solid background, preferably white, in the photos so the aprons "pop".

(I need to follow my own advice about the photos.)

I hung mine on a clothes line, but you're right, they just don't show off very well. I would love to get a couple dressforms (I looked on Amazon yesterday and they had some for $39 but I have no idea what the quality is like). I have absolutely no space for a dress form when it's not being used, otherwise I would go out and get one right now. I've actually been wanting one for a while since they look so cool.

I have a friend who used a fun dress form that she got from Hobby Lobby with a coupon. Her apron looked very cute!
