Did you apply to / participate in Renegate craft fair?

Hi there,
I applied for Renegade craft fair in Brooklyn (September shows). Now I'm waiting for the juries decision. I'm curious, did any of you apply to or sell at Renegade and what is your experience? How hard was it to get accepted and is there a general tendency?
I'd appreciate your opinion about my product.

Hey Anastasia - I was accepted to Renegade Chicago last September and applied this year as well. I hope I get in again as it was my best show to date. I sold almost 250 pieces of jewelry that weekend. It was insane. I don't have any experience with Brooklyn though.

I am told it is very hard to get in, but I am not sure what the jury process is. It caters to a younger, hipster crowd that likes modern (and retro) handmade items. I think your clothing would be great. Good luck!

Hi Danielle, Wow! Your jewelry is beautiful! No wonder you were accepted ;) Did you do the show in Chicago?
My concern is that one of the requirements is to have a cohesive product. I'm still struggling with it but not loosing hope.

I've done renegade in Brooklyn twice and applied to the show in September. My next goal is to do the one in Chicago- I've heard it's fantastic.

I did the Austin show a few years ago - it was good! Not my best show ever but it was really fun, well organized, and great exposure too. I have applied to Chicago a bunch of times and never gotten in, but I know it's really competitive.

I'm in Denver and there is a newer show here called the Denver Flea - I have been a vendor at two of them and my sales were well over what I made at Renegade, without the huge booth fee and travel expenses. I'm not sure how they compare to the Chicago and Brooklyn shows, but it was pretty incredible and it's now one of the only shows I keep doing. There are definitely other shows out there to try!

Jesi - Have you done FireFly? I'd thought about coming out for the FireFly, but maybe the Denver Flea would be better? My cousin lives near Denver, so my only expensive would be the drive.

Hey Erin!

I did Firefly years ago but it's changed quite a bit and not as good as it used to be. Denver Flea would definitely be better, in my opinion!

Nope, Danielle, didn't get in. Now I have to look for other options. I got a bit discouraged, I know Renegade is very competitive + I don't know what they are looking for in clothing.

Yeah since I didn't get in to the Renegade Fair do you guys know any other shows in the area? Maybe if it's less popular there is more chances to get approved there. I have to start with something...

Anastasia, you should try Hoboken Fall Fair, it's September 27th and they just released the application this week. I've done the spring fair the last 2 years and it's one of the few shows I'll do in the area.....I've been very successful both years!

Sorry you didn't get into Renegade, don't be discouraged....you can try next year. It is a great experience, I did it last summer, it rained one of the days but I still did very well. But Hoboken is just as good for me sales wise.

Textile Trolley, thank you for the suggestion, I've heard about the Hoboken fair) Did you do the Renegade summer Pop-up in Brooklyn? I missed the application for that one. I wonder if it's outside there is more vendors there...

No I didn't do the popup this year.....quite honestly the whole applying for tax certificate and filing taxes in other states isn't worth it for me unless I'm doing multiple shows a year. I made the same amount in Hoboken as I did in 2 days at Renegade....and Hoboken is a lot closer, less traffic, no bridges, tunnel or separate taxes LOL

Thanks Danielle! :) I'll keep on trying. I love Renegade and think my clothing would be good for it, still have to work on making it more cohesive though...this could be a problem, plus NY could be more competitive than other cities. Good luck to you in Chicago! :)

That's awesome, Sophie! My booth design and layout is pretty set, but I need some cool backdrop ideas. I want to step it up this year with a nice hand painted curtain or something.

Yeah. Didn't get into Chicago :( Pretty bummed, as the dog vendor that did get in manufactures all her items. I think I'm done with Renegade

How do you find the juried shows? I would like to apply. Not sure if
I would get accepted but would love to do one of those shows.

Hey Textile Trolley, I got accepted to Hoboken Fall Art & music festival September 27th. Are you going?
I can't wait! I went to the Westfield street fair last weekend and it was horrible... for everyone. It was actually on the parking lot next to the farmers market. Never again ! Lol
