Michelle,
I found your banner hard to read, it's a bit difficult to see whats going on because of so much there in one place. I think a simpler one with more clear writing would work better.
I like that your photos have lots of light and you can see the colours and details really well. For me it looks a bit empty(too much white space). Maybe you could find a matching background or to put something matching in colour near it.
You can also complete a section about yourself as a shop owner. It adds space to your description at the bottom and makes it look more professional :) For that you have to go to 'into and appearance' and then you get to add big photos and write about your shop more.
I hope this helps a bit. But remember that this is just my opinions, others may have different ones :)

Re: Shop advice and suggestions for everyone =^^=

Michelle,

Would have to agree with Lilly on the banner, I think, for your items, it's a little too garish and bright - I think looking purely at the items you're selling, I'd have expected a lighter, more pastel coloured banner. Maybe light blue/pink with italics saying 'Donkey and the Unicorn' with an image or two of your items either side.

Your items and pictures are nice, but I think you could show them off a little more - have you thought about using a model, and dress them in clothes suited to the piece so the person can really envisage where they could wear the piece and how it could suit them? E.g. for your OOAK dramatic retro pink and green chunky necklace, how about get a model to wear it, in 80's style clothing? Maybe neon pink leg warmers etc? You just need to give your pieces a 'feel'. I've been intending to do the same with mine for a while.

Have you thought of getting some stack paper (nicely decorated paper) to photograph your items on... some suited to the item itself? If you look on my shop, my steampunk turtle brooch is photographed on some underwater stack paper, which (I think) gives my item more of a 'feel'.

You have some absolutely lovely items which appeal to me, and others which aren't my sort of style, yet I've noticed all the pieces in the 'featured' part are all of the same style, have you thought of adding more variety there to appeal to more people? For example, I really like your turtle key ring dangler, your bohemian eastern dragon and your Buddha earrings - maybe feature them to get some more 'whimsical' people to your shop?

Just some suggestions, apart from that, I really like your shop :)

Thanks! Those are really good ideas. I will work on them. My banner is kind of temporary. My husband is working on a better one so I threw that one up for now. I will advise him on some of your thoughts.

AGAIN THANKS A TON!

Sam,i think your prices are great.Your artwork is beautiful and worth the money. For that size print I would say its cheap. This of course also depends on the prints quality. You can try selling the originals if you are willing to part with them but give them a good price :) Your shop looks great and i love the feeling the art.I think its all just about promotion :)

I agree if anything i would say your protective kids lower than i expected. I would suggest more tags, possibly relayed to color. I would maybe go a little more in-depth on your description, if possible. Nice work.

Sam, Your art is beautiful and the prices are absolutely fine, if anything on the cheap side.

The banner is lovely and really suits your art, but you've failed to give your shop a title in the banner. Could you overlay 'Sam Huckstep Art' onto the image? If you think, the banner is exactly like the sign put on top of a shop in real life, so at the moment, you're giving people a 'feel' for the shop as they walk by, but not actually giving your shop a title. That's all I'd recommend, everything else is awesome!

Can I have a critique on mine? :)

Re: Shop advice and suggestions for everyone =^^=

Lately my stay shop feels stagnant. I'm just not feeling the love!! While custom sales outside etsy are OK, lately there has been no action here on etsy. So what the hell, I could use a review/critique of my shop.

Lisa from BrightFireBeads, I think your shop looks great :) Your photos are so good and bright! Your description of each item is also very good. I feel the banner could be brighter to match your listings. Otherwise it all looks super =^^=
I think there are some quiet times that all shops go through. Its all about promoting here. I found that when your promoting yourself as much as you can at one point it just gets going :) Creating treasuries really helps(specially when you send messages notifying people that they have been included) and then just simply going through teams and playing games and posting items :)
