Heather has sold over 31,000 digital items in her digital Etsy shop. She is also busy mother of 4 who used to work late into the night answering customer questions and stressing about how to get things done in the day.
Heather says she was 'successful' selling digital items. But as many digital shop owners know, "high sales volume doesn't equate to happiness" and improved lifestyle. In fact, quite the opposite can be true.
That was the case with Heather. She thoroughly enjoyed designing and selling digital invitations but once she reached a certain sales volume, she "couldn't relax" the way she wanted to. Revisions, edits, mistakes, unhappy customers were all too common.
Does this sound like you?
That's when Heather decided to use Adobe Acrobat to create self-editable PDFs and that was a move in the right direction. However, it was extremely difficult to adopt to the platform and took a painstakingly long amount of time. Also customers "have so many issues with Adobe reader" according to Heather" and "could not add images, text in places where they wanted to and couldn't edit on a mobile device."
Corjl changed Heather's life. According to Heather, once she switched to Corjl, everything improved for the better. Her inbox was reduced to nearly ZERO. On a high sales volume day, Heather sells 50-70 items and receives nearly zero emails. Also customers like this a lot better and find it very easy to use.
"Corjl changed my life" Heather states emphatically. "It's really the first time in my life that I've felt truly successful on Etsy and my customers love being able to instantly edit, customize and download their items."
Heather also reports that customers enjoy using the mobile phone to edit their designs. "It's really a convenient option for customers because sometimes people are already at Walgreens or Staples ready to print and they can simple download and email their own PDF, JPG or PNG file on the spot."
Here are Heather's top 3 tips for being a successful digital seller:
1. Automate proofs. Customers have lots of questions, especially Etsy customers. They struggle with .zip files, downloading new software and typically want you to take care of them (as you already know)
2. Do your keyword research. Google trends, SEMrush, Ahrefs and other tools can help you see current trending topics and help prepare for seasonal items.
3. Pay (a lot) for promoted listings in Etsy. You'll need to ramp up your daily budget over time but as soon as possible, it's important to pay for promoted listings in order to be visible for all items in your shop. Just monitor the return on investment! For example, if you spend $20 in a day, you should expect a 3x return of around $60. Yes you're giving more money to Etsy but you sell digital items and this brings in traffic to your shop!
