Source of copper washers

I've noticed that a lot of projects in magazines etc use plain or textured copper washers but I have been unable to find these in any London (UK) shops. As I like to see what I'm buying, especially when it's something I've never used before, I'm reluctant to buy them online at this point.
If anyone knows of a source of these anywhere in or within a reasonable radius of north London I would be most grateful to hear of it!

Have you tried a local hardware store? They might have plain ones.

Thanks Marie, I've tried everywhere I can think of, here and in North Miami where I was recently. I can only find stainless steel and some sort of unidentified base metal.

Just for the record, problem solved! I finally got some at a car accessories warehouse. They need a polish but are otherwise fine.

Have you tried making large jump rings as an inexpensive solution to washers?

In the US you can get a box of assorted size, bare, pure copper washers at Harbor Freight
