Re: Share your store and story here!

Hi there!

Just joined your team! After a workshop in bookbinding earlier this year we quickly realised we were hooked. Having played with Etsy before, we thought ... why not open a shop devoted to hand-made journals? A week or two later and we'd thought of a name. Now we have a place to share our love of sketching, writing and crafting.

Re: Share your store and story here!

The Cheetah can be described as the following:

Cheetah

A spotted, slender, sleek, graceful, swift predator...an animal that hunts for its food, on the run. This particular cat is a diurnal hunter, which means that it hunts primarily during the day. Why? Because it uses its incredible running ability to catch a daily meal, and it needs to be able to see what it is running after. It's all about adaptations. That means there are special characteristics about each animal that help it live. One of the cheetah's adaptations, its claws, help make it the fastest running animal. Its claws help it catch its prey, which runs nearly as quickly to escape this running machine
-Lions.org

So the story goes very simply...I was diagnosed with a horrible disease called Trigeminal Neuralgia. After many years of working FT, juggling 4 kids, keeping my angel in my heart and keeping my wonderful hubby happy I had brain surgery-l couldn't take the pain any longer-life didn't go as planned. I was in hospital for 30 days and still doing rehab since August 2013 with some limitations. Trying to stay Positive, on my feet and inspired to continue to do good in the world for God, myself, family and everyone I meet. The Cheetah is an animal, as you can see from the description, that can be called a "running machine". One day I was determined to get on my feet and run like I had been prior to surgery with my son. That day I did it-alone, I conquered defeat, I left a message for my son, I listened to my inner cheetah..carry on my son. And-well, the cheetah inside me FOCUSES on the positive and adapts to carry on. That is the story of FOCUSONTHEPOSITIVE-INNER CHEETAH BY RMK (RMK is my daughters initials that passed away at one month of age from Trisomy 13-my angel).

Charity Shop: Celebrating Awareness for Diseases That Need More Recognition and Support Around the World-Focusing on Trigeminal Neuralgia. Every month one individual will benefit from receiving 10% of All sales to help with their medical bills.

Re: Share your store and story here!

Hello! I just joined your team, I thought it would be a good idea since I just opened up my first Etsy shop making journals. I just recently got into journal making and book binding, I've never had professional classes or anything on it, but I have a few friends who were interested in what I was doing and encouraged me to start up a shop!

A little about me, I'll be graduation with my BS this spring, after 6 years in college and one change of Major. I'm newly married (somewhat, I've been a wife for 6 months now) to a U.S. Marine so journal making in my spare time when the husband's not home keeps me busy!

I don't have many items in my shop YET but many journals are in the works! Mostly just waiting for my paper supply to be delivered. Also, Besides loving journals (I own many of my own, too many to use really) I love my coffee, but besides that, I also thought it was a coincidence that the Captain of this team is from the same town I am! Wasn't expecting that on my first search of teams related to journals

Here's my shop, it's still being modified on a day to day basis, but I'm happy I have it this far along right now

Decided to make dog collars to help a family I recently met that is struggling with keeping Dad in treatements for Leukemia. I also donate to local animal shelter AWESOM and to people in need. I want to help others so they never have the same feelings that I have had struggling through each day.

Re: Share your store and story here!

Hi! I'm new to this team and to Etsy. I'd like to introduce my brand. I make hand sewn notebooks using traditional binding techniques with up-cycled leather. Manufacturing leather discharges hazardous waste into the environment. By making my products with up-cycled leather from designer handbags, jackets, and furniture, I lessen contribution to landfills and pollution.

Re: Share your store and story here!

I bind blank journals using a variation of the coptic stitch! I took a class at NC State on coptic stitch variations and have been having fun experimenting since.

Re: Share your store and story here!

I have a passion for notebooks and writing things down on paper. For several months now I've toyed with the idea of starting to handmake my own notebooks for personal use and to sell. Recently I created a prototype, and then purchased all of the equipment and material I needed to do it. I love making notebooks now, and designing/painting original covers for them/ They're unique and I cut, bind, and assemble each and every one. Great for creatives, writers, travelers.

Re: Share your store and story here!

Hi all! I'm a coffee-addicted artist traveling in Turkey, Europe, and North Africa. I travel with a small wooden box of colored inks, brushes, and my Moleskine sketchbook, allowing me to paint on the go. In my Etsy shop I share prints of paintings from my travel journal:

Greetings all! I'm more of a tea addict, but there's nothing like a warm mug and a good book! I've been making blank journals for a while now. There's just something about those blank pages waiting for your stories and creativity!
I've heard from customers who use them as travel diaries, gaming notebooks, even poetry for someone heading off to active service! Amazing how such a little thing can tough somebody's life. You're all invited to stop by the shop or drop me a line!
Meanwhile, here's the latest item from my shop:

Re: Share your store and story here!

A good cup of coffee is the first step of my creative process! Or maybe two cups...

I started making sketchbooks and journals out of necessity, really. I wanted something nicer than I could afford at the age of 12, and I've always believed that if I want something, I can make it! I fumbled my way through a couple designs, writing and drawing in them faithfully, and then finally got to learn how it's REALLY done in an art class. As a general bibliophile and life-long artist, making journals is something that I simply love to do! I'm hoping someone else out there is as enchanted with the promise of blank pages as I am!

Re: Share your store and story here!

Hi, I'm Pamela and I'm new to the business !

I've always loved books and journals. In schools I struggled with work because my reading and writing skills were so poor. My gran would buy me lots of journals and notebooks and encouraged me to write about anything. It really helped improve my literacy skills. Now I am studying English lit. and lang. at university, with a future teaching degree in mind.

I actually started making upcycled books as abit of an experiment. I get bored with a lot of hobbies, but this is the first one I've really stuck with. I have a full time job, study at university and serve with the British army reserves. So when I do get abit of free time I relax and make my books. I especially like going hunting for them in local secondhand book shops or boot sales.

I particularly like old books because they are so different to the modern books we have today. More care and detail went into making and designing them. I for one know that a quality journal can inspire quality writing. I do however make sure I never cut up any religious books or collectible first editions. I like to honour the literature as well as inspire it. And nothing is wasted, as the paper from the original books in recycled into new blank paper.
