It's National Cleaning Week!

Here's a friendly reminder that this week is the time to do some Spring cleaning!

Do you guys have any tips for cleaning & keeping tidy?

My favourite way to clean as well as keep things in order is to use up what I have before I buy more of it.

Say I have this huge pile of yarn (not saying I do...*jams yarn into closet*) and it's enough for me to make plenty of Radical Bears, hats, and gloves. Before I go out and get more yarn and fill up valuable space, I use up what's in the pile to the last remnants. This goes for any type of supplies, especially if you know you have enough to last you for awhile.

For the everyday person, take a look at your pantry/cabinets/refrigerator. Are there things in there that you're just waiting for the "right" time to cook with them? Wait no longer! Before you go out and buy more groceries (besides milk & bread), use up what you have in the kitchen to clean out space. If you're stuck on what to cook using those supplies, check out supercook.com. This site allows you to add whatever you have in your kitchen, and recipes pop up for you to use. It has TOTALLY helped me out when I'm completely stomped on what to fix for dinner!

The best part of using up what you already have to clear out space, is that it saves money! When you're looking at supplies that you don't know what to do with, you can come up with creative ways to incorporate those supplies into your craft. This means you will not be searching the craft stores (or online) for new supplies for quite awhile!

Feel free to share your cleaning & space saving tips! Remember, the better organized you are, the more productive you'll be! A clean and well organized office and work area promotes a free mind and less stress while working. :)

my cleaning tip is to not do it all at once. i try to do one or two things a day, that way it's not overwhelming.

Re: It's National Cleaning Week!

We are trying to do spring cleaning a little everyday. Last night we cleaned out 2 junk draws in the kitchen. Doesn't sound like much but if we do a little everyday for a month we can accomplish great things.

Re: It's National Cleaning Week!

Great tips guys.
I despise cleaning and tidying. I have one method that I use and it really does work for me. The twenty minute off, twenty minute on game....

I set a timer on my phone for twenty minutes, do twenty minutes of whatever I want, usually messing about on here, then twenty minutes cleaning/tidying.
It's pretty good because that job you thought may take you all day, that you've been putting off for weeks, well, you can make a pretty big dent in it with twenty golden minutes.

National Cleaning Week? Usually I jump right on these bandwagons. I particularly enjoyed Margarita Day a few weeks back. But I think I'm going to choose to abstain from this one. Well, OK. Maybe I'll clean the TV screen off so I can see it better...

Can you tell I hate cleaning? My husband is better at it than I am anyway. And I fully believe in playing to one's strengths.

Re: It's National Cleaning Week!

Cleaning week ? I hate it. Maybe I should be ashamed of saying so because I like to live in a clean house.
Cleaning week makes me think about 'The Big Cleaning' like we had that in Belgium. Everything in the house was turned over. 'Take down the curtains, roll up the carpets, wax the furniture, shrub the floors'.
My mother made me the best cleaning lady in town and I am not proud of it.
When I married, My dear husband said he did not marry me for me being cleaning all the time. He ordered a girl who did it for me, so I could be busy with costumers and our two sons, and so has it always been...till now.

Re: It's National Cleaning Week!

I just boxed up a whole bunch of old bras to send to Free The Girls.

I do have a lot of my bead stash to use up, too. But I need to clean and make room to work first before I can even make a dent in the stash....
