Scorching hot weather today, the sun is out playing, the heat is making me sweat. Just checked the temperature, 21'C. Summer has officially begun =D
Sun is gone and temperature has dropped, feeling a bit of chill in the air, quite refreshening.
Triple digits haven't started yet here in the San Fernando Valley, thank goodness. I hate extreme heat!
I don't like extreme heat either, especially if it is humid as well. I don't have air con or electric fan at home and I don't feel safe leaving the window open during the night.
Triple degrees fahrenheit, that is. @Artbesico I checked the temperature converter, 21C is almost 70F, you must be used to cooler weather.
Where I live the daytime temps in the winter rarely go below 60F. That's wintertime.
@psych62 21C hot might not be the same hot in other places, here it's hot if it's like 18C =D It felt very hot here this morning, could feel the heat, I think it needs rain.
@ArtbesicoThat sounds more like my ideal Summer temperature. Here, that's the range we're usually used to... at its hottest, it may have been about 25C but we were usually in the early 20's. This year, though, it seems to be pushing 30C more often than usual. Temperatures like that are more common a bit further inland in the province, but not here... we are essentially 5 minutes from the Coast. From my childhood home, I just had to walk to the end of my street and I could see an area overlooking the Bay of Fundy, so it's usually a lot cooler here in general.
The other day, we had a tornado warning that reached from mid-province into my area, the broader Saint John county. That was very unusual (the province sometimes sees these warnings, but again they're usually further inland. It's unusual for one to reach us here where I reside).
It's projected to be a resonable week temperature wise after that storm system passed, but it's still around 27C today. Too hot for me. :(
It is beautiful, though.
27C my goodness, must be HOT =D
Temperature here has dropped to 19C now, much longer daylight, still light out there, light blue sky with no clounds.
I've learnt to appreciate all seasons now, as long as I can wear comfortable clothes I'm ok with any weather =]
19C sounds beautiful. It settles at around 15C most nights here, and between that & my love for stargazing, it makes the nights really pleasant. We get a really large number of june bugs in my area, so until about this time of year I can't really go out for my weekend night walks... but now, we're moving into the time of year when it's more of a viable option. That's really exciting. (:
I know what you mean about appreciating all seasons and can relate in my own way. Fall is usually a favorite for me, but I don't want to wish this time away. I've really come to learn how precious it is. Summer really does have its beauty, too, in so many ways. The season of generally more relaxation, day trips, things like that. This is typically a favorite time to go wandering with my camera, too. (:
@philosophiacreations It's another scorching hot day waking up to bright sunshine and heat. There is a cool breeze though so it feels nice =]
I was just thinking the other day that I used to go out for evening walks and weekend walks a lot some years ago, my flatmate liked to take walks in the park in the weekend and in the neighbouring area in the evenings.
I used to prefer cold weather rather than hot, didn't like the Summer heat but I like the longer daylight. Last night it was still light outside with light blue sky after 9pm. It was lovely =]
I love the summertime, as well as springtime!
I lived for many years in a place that was up in the high 30s celcius for most of the year, like 90 to 100 Fahrenheit, and humid, so to me now 21 C (70 F) does not qualify as "hot" to my body at all, lol! :) It feels even a tiny bit on the cool side to me after years of 38 C summers. Nowadays back in Blighty, I often wear a light cardigan in 21 C. It's all about what your body is used to relatively.
I will tell you though, an electric fan is a MUST-BUY for summertime!!!
Even if you don't open your windows at night! Just to have a small desk fan aimed at your skin will make you feel heaps more comfortable on warm days or nights, in your home. Fans help an enormous amount in your body's comfort level and I would strongly recommend getting even a little desk-standing fan.
If you live alone and don't have to worry about letting it blow on other people around the room, the trick is to keep it aimed at your skin, don't use the oscilating feature, as it doesn't cool the room, just cools your skin by way of evaporation.
@BreezeOnTheLake Oh I do like having an electric fan on at night, used to have one years ago, cool air blowing was so soothing, almost hypnotising =] Used to have fans at work too, even though there are now more offices with air conditioning due to change of weather, it is not enough to keep the place cool.
I don't have an electric fan now but I shouldn't complain, at least now I can open the windows. I used to live in this place that was like semi underground, dark and damp. It was suffocating. Now I can leave the windows open for fresh air and light =]
Oh it's raining, almost pouring out there. How refreshing, I think we need that, the rain might help to clear the heat in the air. It feels pretty cool now, with the rain and breeze blowing.
