What a strange and sad day

Have you ever had a customer that liked to chat and you just knew they were lonely? You didn't really want to be a friend but it was a sale.

Yesterday I updated a person on the progress of his project and got an email from his sister that he passed away. I checked for his obituary, and in fact he had died.

I feel so bad. I think I feel guilty for thinking he always gave tmi but he really was just alone.

So sad. Thanks for listening.

Re: What a strange and sad day

I'm sorry to hear that Jane. Death is something we never really know how to deal with. Whether it be someone we know personally or like your situation with your customer. Don't feel bad about not befriending him. You didn't know. Just take comfort in knowing he is in a better place and you made a him feel like someone cared in the end. You may not feel that way, but if he was giving you tmi it's because you made him feel like he could talk to you.
