Getting Started

Hi, I am new at making cards. I am so excited about it!! I have so many ideas, the ideas just keep coming and I can't make the cards fast enough to keep up with the ideas. LOL. I don't have a great deal of supplies or the funds to purchase some due to being unemployed. I do try to get some things here and there. I just am not sure what products I should have or have not. It seems there are so many out there. I have gone to Goodwill and Salvation army and found some great things and great prices.

Any advice you can give would be appreciated!!

Re: Getting Started

I live in Uk but am totally on your side of things here. Im on student rates here in England and am on minimum wage so getting supplies is totally on the rare side! However my best tips are silly little things like the following:
- Never throw away a news paper/magazine without looking at the clippings you could get from it.
- Always take up half price days/coupons.
- Search swap sites, always good to get some freebies!
- Use tags and ribbon from clothing (when bought new)

These are my best tips anyways! Hope this helps!

You could always join a card kit club as well..you pay to join it but you also get a lot of supplies that may allow you to make a good variety of cards.I used to belong to Personal Scrapper but there are many out there!! Good luck! I enjoy seeing more and more people get into this wonderful craft. I get what you're saying about keeping up w/ the ideas!!! Have fun!

Re: Getting Started

There's another team called Keeping it Etsy. They might have some inexpensive card making suppliers there :) Good luck!
