Good morning,
I too have both the Cricut and Cuttlebug. Check out the other large machines such as the Cricut. There is a software program called Sure Cuts a Lot by Crafters Edge.
http://www.surecutsalot.com/index.phpThe program allows you to use any True Type font and clip art to design what your imagination desires and you are not held hostage to ones made by Provo craft.
The cuttlebug or similar machine by Sizzix or another company is manual and fairly limited to folders and dies pre-made. I use mine all the time to emboss and die cut. You can use any folder or die. I have cuttlebug, Sizzix and Spellbinder folders and dies I use. You may have to add to your plates for the correct pressure.
Also, Paper Dreams.....have you tried washing your Cricut mats with soap and water? Also to bring the tackiness back get some spray glue, lightly spray them and let them set for awhile.
Have fun ..... Enjoy
