Hello, I'm new here and probably live not only in a different country but also a completely different culture! Here in Turkey greeting cards are a very new concept and Turks have no idea what they are for!
As you can imagine that was a little tricky when deciding how to market my cards :)
I began listing online and sold a couple of cards a week that way, I was lucky though and had an office of my own, I literally got hold of an old wire postcard stand and stuck it outside with a chalkboard sign! That was just the beginning....I now have a hand full of local shops who stock my cards and I have a tough time to keep up with demand. All the european ex-pats bring me special orders and each one is a new challenge as the requests get more and more specific. For example this week I am making an A4 size garden gate with thee dimensional flowers and a matching box envelope, I'm quite excited!
I would say to everyone looking for a marketplace for cards....Take them into every local business in your area and ask if they would be interested in displaying a selection on a sale or return basis...Or even better let them buy at a slightly discounted bulk price where they can make a little profit and keep the business cogs oiled!
Also leave a written note of how customers can contact you...and be sure your packaging is faultless as people do like to feel a hand made card before they buy :)
