how to Market online

I am wondering how others have used money to promote thier stores online or have connected it to social media to get customers. I do not want to waste my money.

Hello All, I'm new to Etsy and to this group as well. A short intro: just getting back to being creative after many, many years from watercolor painting to photography. I am most recently using my photographs on cards....but now I have to figure out the marketing side of being a creative.....any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Your banner and cards are lovely. Have you though to go through Facebook, or launch your own website?

Here's what has worked for me - Get your name out there. Utilize your tags while listing. What would people be typing into the search bar to find your item? Get on social media. Facebook is okay (but reaches a limited amount of people because of the way they do business pages) and instagram is awesome. Interact with other business owners. Comment. Use hashtags on Twitter and Instagram. Have GOOD QUALITY photos. List multiple items. If you have ten items in your shop, you are way less likely to get noticed than if you have 50+. If you're going to use your money, try to get your dollar's worth by promoting specific items around certain times (ex - Have Halloween cards? Market them in September / early October).

The above comments are correct - teams are awesome! They get views. Favorite other shops. Interact! It's a LONG process and it doesn't happen overnight and it definitely doesn't happen if you are just waiting around for people to notice your stuff.
