My intoduction ....needing advice!! :)

Hello fellow Etsy'ers!

My name is Karen and I have just recently joined this group. I made handmade artisan jewelry (Sugar Loaf Mountain Jewels) and am located in Oshawa. I have a few questions for all of you and if you can answer them I would be forever grateful!! First of all I am need some critiques of my shop because I am at my wits end trying to figure out why is it that I have over 1100 likes on my Facebook page, I have been put in numerous Treasuries and one of my items was highlighted in a famous LA magazine and my sales dont reflect any of this. I have taken photography lessons, I have redone my shop numerous times, I have a lot of followers and have been told numerous times how lovely my items are. and my reviews are amazing! I am so not trying to toot my own horn just repeating so I can give you the right info. I dont think my items are overpriced or my postage is too much. So I am at your mercry lol If you can think of anything I am open to suggestions and please dont be kind lol I need to hear the truth so I can get this business back on track. Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing your responses!! Karen :)

Hi Karen,

I am about the farthest thing you can get from an expert on the jewelry market, so things I talk about will be pretty basic.

I took a look at your shop, and everything looks good to me :)
Your photos, descriptions and prices all look great.
Honestly, I think your sales have been quite good for starting in August! Jewelry is a very, very competitive category to be in.

One thing I noticed and wanted to ask about:
It doesn't look like you have changed your shop name, but in your policies you talk about quilts and a shop called 'Quilts n Jewels by Karen'. That confused me.

Personally, I would take out the mention of people being a tad impatient (in your shipping policies). As a buyer, that would put me off a bit.

If you are concerned about SEO and Relevancy, there is a team that is run by a Canadian shop owner, and I have heard nothing but good things about her and the vast amount of areas she is knowledgeable about and shares information on.

(I hope it is okay that I link that here!)

Not really a ton of insight here, sorry. But a couple of suggestions at least. :)

Your shop looks good to me. Good photos and descriptions. I would say that your jewelry looks like so many other jewelry shops in Etsy. There is a ton of competition in the jewelry category. I think you need to find a niche or unique product that makes your shop different.
Not sure if you do local crafts show. Those venues are a good way to get local buyers and if they know you have an etsy shop then you may get repeat business.
Try searching etsy for similar product to yours and see where you are in the search engines. See if you can fine tune your tags. I searched for pearl earrings and got 9379 items. I searched for rose pearl earrings and got 391 items. Lots of competition.

Your jewelry is lovely and your photos are great! You have only been on Etsy a short time - it takes time to become known and there are tons of jewelry sellers here. Join a promotion team that makes treasuries, learn about SEO and use that info in your descriptions, titles and tags. Make more items. The biggest jump I had in views and sales was when I finally got up to 100 items.
