How are your sales this year so far?

My sales during this year so far is very bad. I spend time on my store, favoring, renewing etc, but not many sales. Your input and advice are very much appreciated.

My sales are so so, but honestly I have to list new stuff all the time and renew. I can't say sales are great but they have stayed steady if I have stayed steady. I honestly am looking into a new platform for my shop, Etsy has changed so much, it isn't about the handmade market anymore and they take a lot of money from me monthly.

Re: How are your sales this year so far?

I had sales (mostly friends and family) when I first opened, but nothing since. I'm going to list another 30 items soon (once I get the photography done), and we'll see if that helps. Will be tweaking listing text again soon as well, but I am getting found in searches and stuff after my last tweaking.

It's a bit discouraging, I'll admit.

Re: How are your sales this year so far?

I just opened my shop last July. Everyone told me about the magic 100 listing number which I hit in January and it did seem like magic. I have been getting sales pretty steadily since I hit 100 items in my shop and I even got a wholesale order this month, which I am thrilled about! Now with market season starting, I need to work hard to keep 100 items in my shop.

Re: How are your sales this year so far?

Liane, congrats on the wholesale order.

I am finding it quite slow. I have been working on my photos - I know there's still room for improvement! As well as SEO - feel like I review and tweek some weekly. I don't have that magic 100. Maybe that should be a goal. Keeping it there over the summer markets will definitely stretch me!

It hasn't been a year yet; I know I should be more patient!

Steady - increase over last year winter/spring sales so far......my advice (if anyone wants it - I have been here awhile!) is to continuously work on your photos; tags and titles matching....and be patient if this is what you love :)

Re: How are your sales this year so far?

Patience is required for etsy! I registered in 2007, but did nothing with the site until 5 years ago, or so. I now have 355 listings, so sales are much better, but it took time to get there! Every time someone favourites an item or your shop, it's more exposure for you. It all helps! I'm ALWAYS tweaking my descriptions in my listings, until I'm happy with them, which sometimes takes hours! I think that, usually, you get out what you put in (although I know it doesn't always work that way)!

Re: How are your sales this year so far?

Last year I had over 100 items and this year many of which expired so I am down to less than 100. I need to list more items and improve tags and photos.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to post your input.

Re: How are your sales this year so far?

We have been going strong since 2011 and now we have hit a major slump since Feb. we are just not being found and not making sales.
We are less than 1/3 of our last years revenue... wish I knew what was going on?

Our views have been ridiculously low too, with our average being only about 50 views per day :(

So far my sales are OK, I'm profiting about 800$ canadian a month, but I think that is due in part to the fact our dollar is weak at the moment as well.

Re: How are your sales this year so far?

After several years on Etsy I have decided to finally close my shop. I find that Etsy just keeps changing things and it is getting annoying, they also charge way to much for the return we get. It has exhausted and tired me out over the past year and I am done. Done with Etsy, done with jewelry, the market is so over saturated, so badly over saturated.

I love making my jewelry for my customers but I know it is time to move on.

As for Etsy, I am glad to be leaving, they are not what they used to be. For any of you not getting sales....get off Etsy! This platform will drive you nuts. Get your own Website. Try The Grid, a new platform launching soon that will do your SEO for you and actually warrant something that Etsy never can. Try Big Cartel and use Facebook.

Bottom line: Etsy sucks
