Priority Prices?

I'd like to offer my customers the opportunity to upgrade to priority shipping.

I want to make sure the priority shipping prices calculated by Etsy though the combined shipping calculator is correct.

Is there somewhere for me to be able to double check the priority shipping prices before converting all of my listings to it? When i use the shipping calculator the only priority shipping I can see is priority flat rate.

Or do I need to wait to get an order to be able to see the priority listing prices?

Thank you!
Deanna

Re: Priority Prices?

Deanna - go to your Shipping Profile page. On the right hand side there are links - one is for a Shipping Price Calculator. You can input your zip code, a destination zip code - dimensions of a package and weight. It will give you both Etsy Prices and USPS Retail prices for different shipping methods like Parcel Select, First Class and Priority. You can also click to get Flat Rate package prices.

Re: Priority Prices?

Also, CS will only give you Flat Rate Priority prices if you check off to use them at the bottom of your Shipping Profile page under Preferences. Otherwise it will only calculate regular Priority Prices.

And if you want to check how things are calculating for your items - either sign out of your Etsy account and then go back to your shop and you can pretend to be a shopper and enter any zip code you want and add multiple items to your cart to see what prices come up.

Or you can open another browser and go to your shop and do the same thing.

Re: Priority Prices?

Thank you for responding, Kathy. I'm still not seeing just priority. I even increased the box size to see it.

Thats okay - I was able to look it up on the USPS site. I know it may be slightly different than what It will charge though Etsy but gives me a close ball park

Thank you!

Re: Priority Prices?

Deanna.
If you're not seeing Priority are you sure you have Priority in that shipping profile for that item?

If you only have first class, all you will see is first class no matter how many items you add. Same with Parcel Select if that is all that is on the profile it will be all you'll see.

On first class items I have *Both* first class and Priority on my shipping profile.

That way if someone buy's enough first class items to put the weight 16 oz or over, then all the buyer will see is Priority.

The Priority prices would be either retail or discounted (depending on what you've selected) and are exactly the same on etsy as USPS.com

I have my profiles set for Etsy shipping cost and they are exactly the same as USPS discounted rates.

This is on 1st class and Priority classes.

Re: Priority Prices?

Ginger - Thank you for the chart! It will be very helpful

Pat - I honestly have no idea what I'm doing . lol I don't have priority set up right now on my shop. I was playing around with the calculated shipping the other day and was having quite a bit of problems with it. I took the priority shipping option down to double check the prices since I was having a difficult time getting even just standard shipping to calculate right. Right now I feel so lost I dont even know what questions to ask. I'm hoping tonight I will be able to sit down and really concentrate on the shipping.

Re: Priority Prices?

Deanna you sell fabric right? Pat also sells some fabric. I'm sure she could help you if you have questions.

Just remember when you set up a profile, you can add First Class, Priority, Parcel Select - Express services. Whatever you like or usually ship with. The calculator is going to add the weights together so if it goes beyond FC parameters, it will jump to Parcel Select and Priority - but only if you also have those options selected.

It will show the customer the cheapest option first. In the cart there will be a drop down menu for the other services if they want to choose that.

Here is how to set it up

Re: Priority Prices?

I do sell some fabric in this shop but I don't use CS for it except on a few pieces I sell per yard and I don't have the flat rate options for them, just 1st class or Priority.

I have the shipping for most of my fabrics set up the old way, flat rate for everybody. I put the same shipping cost in the 1st item box and also in the each additional item box. (so if someone buy's fabric and another item, CS will figure shipping the flat rate for the fabric + the shipping for the other item.

I also have this noted in my fabric listings that these items can not be combined with other items since this is all that will fit in a flat rate envelope.

I don't sell that much fabric per yard but I do have one or two listings set up per yard but the majority are sold by the entire piece, 3,4....or more yards.

I don't use CS shipping with most of my fabric because I worry if someone buys fabric and another item (or even another fabric) CS will figure both to go in a flat rate envelope and then not being able to get both in there.

If you sell by the yard, 1/2 yd or fat quarters I'm not sure how you'd set CS up to use the flat rate envelopes to be used since just so many yards can go into one of these, then it wouid need to be bumped up to a regional or flat rate box.

Re: Priority Prices?

Thank you Kathy and Pat! Your information has been helpful.

Pat - I will take a look at your listings for fabric to see what you've done.

Right now mine is set for the "old" way and I end up having to do a lot of refunds for people since it won't add up that great. Once I get to 2.5 yards it is less expensive to ship flat rate up to 7 or 8 yards. I'm not sure if it will ever be "prefect" for me. We will see
