Calculated Shipping Now Available for All US Sellers

Hi Everyone,

First, we wanted to thank you all for your participation in this team. Your feedback and bug reports have helped us get calculated shipping to a place where we have the confidence to take the next step.

Today, we began enabling calculated shipping as an option for all US sellers. Check out our Announcement here: https://www.etsy.com/teams/7716/announcements/discuss/16175006/. We’ll be ramping up slowly over the next couple of weeks and I will post back when we are live for everyone.

Having trouble with the shipping settings. Before ya’ll set the size / weight thing I used the P.O. cost & locked that cost in across to board an all items (believe a reason a lot of buyers step back on a purchase), I have set to the size/weight in a profile but it is still using the P.O. settings. Question is how do I take off the P.O. cost thing and use only the size / weight shipping? Or can ya’ll do the change from your end? Thanks

Woody, sorry but no one on this team can change your settings. Only you can do this.

If you have PO rates then you selected USPS Retail rates when you set up your shipping profiles, you can change it to Etsy's postage rates (discounted).

Go to your listing manager and click more filters on the left, then click manage shipping profiles.

when that page comes up scroll down until you see "postage rates'
UNCHECK post office retail and CHECK Etsy label rates.

This will apply to ALL your listings.

NOTE: You don't set sizes and weights on a profile, only in your listings.

Size is item + any packing only, NO box. if you fold the item to mail use that size.

Weight is item + any packing + box, total weight of everything ready to mail.

Profiles are only for shipping methods, not to enter weights/sizes of packages.
Profiles are
1st class, Priority, Parcel Select, express, media mail and international methods if you ship world wide.

Do NOT use media mail on a profile if you do NOT sell books/cd's.

You really only need a few profiles.

I have 4 a first class and Priority togehter and a Priority only with a 1-2 day processing time and the same profiles but with a 3-5 day processing time.

If someone buys an item 16 oz or under (with Etsy's rates), a buyer will see the first class shipping and Priority shipping, based on their zip code.

If I attach a Priority ONLY profile to items over 1 lb. the buyer only sees the Priroity shipping based on their zip and size/weight of that item.

Woody, just checked out 4 or 5 of your items and "none" of the items have calculated shipping.

I get the same shipping cost no matter what zip code I enter in my cart and when multiples are entered the shipping doubles/triples.

You have to set up CS in order to use it.

Woody, I just wanted to add that once you enter weight and dimensions into your listings you also have to attach a calculated shipping profile to the listing as well in order for calculated shipping to take affect.

So step one is to set up shipping profiles - choose your processing time, countries where you ship to, the mail classes you will use and the shipping prices you want to apply.

Step two is to go to each listing and add weight and dimensions for the item PLUS select a calculated shipping profile to apply.

Hello, I'm fairly new to selling here on Etsy. My question is after a customer has placed an order and utilized the priority mail option and now wants Priority Express, how do I charge for priority express on that order?

Hello. I now have a shipping label maker and purchased my first prepaid postage today. However, I am shipping priority mail domestic box. The drop down menu only states flat rate or schedule a, b or c. I don't know which one to choose of none of them match the box I am using. I'm afraid the postage might not be enough. What do I choose in that drop down menu?

For regular Priority you choose package/thick envelope - it should be the first option in the list.

So in the first drop down you select Priority and in the second box package/thick envelope.

That will give you the regular Priority shipping based on weight.

Is there any way to add USPS Standard Shipping as an option for calculated shipping?

There is First Class, Parcel Select, Priority and Priority Express.

Perhaps you are thinking of what is called Parcel Select?

I usually use USPS Standard Post. It's usually 7-10 business days.

There is something called standard post on the usps site that looks like a commercial mail option for pamphlets and printed material.

Are you talking about media mail? You can choose that in CS if your items conform to the strict rules for it.

I just switched all my items to calculated shipping and when I return to my store and click on the shipping policies tab, the clock just spins and spins and never calculates my shipping cost on a given item. What is wrong?

Kevin - have you set up calculated shipping profiles and attached those to your listing? Have you entered the dimensions and weights into each listing?

Kevin, I just checked a couple of your items and I am seeing shipping prices that seem consistent with calculated shipping. It looks good to me.

Kevin, is your zip code missing? I'm honestly not sure where Etsy pulls that from (maybe under "you" and "Account settings").

Kathy, I have put in all the dimensions and weights. Good it shows up for you. Hoping it is local although my wife could not access shipping costs at her work when checking. Maybe it will just take a while to ripple through.

ByGoneYears. I don't know about zip code. I cannot find anywhere to put that in, but since they have my credit card info I would imagine they have it. Anyone know where to look to confirm that detail?

Kevin, just try going to your listing - there is a box there for zip code - make sure your zip code is showing up there.

You can try this to make sure you have an address listed with Etsy
