PayPal vs alternate payment methods

I've just opened an etsy shop and am hoping to make the buying experience as easy as possible for both myself and my buyer. But reading the PayPal community forum is scaring the @&*# out of me. So many (eBay) sellers and buyer are feeling ripped off by fees and inconsistent policies, etc. I'm curious to know if there is a trend among etsy sellers to using alternate payment methods, or are most sellers passionate about using PayPal, and if so why? I'm still uploading images, profile, branding, but should be ready to roll in a few days.
Thanks.

Re: PayPal vs alternate payment methods

While a lot of sellers offer alternate payments (amazon, checks, money orders, and a couple of new ones similar to pay pal), I've used pay pal for two years now and have had no problem. Admittedly the fees from Etsy or Ebay plus pay pal do add up, but I've found consistency and dependability. with PayPal. I do NOT use pay pal's debit card, I've heard lots of problem with that, and I don't leave much money in my pay pal account.

When you first start, pay pal will hold the money you earn until the goods you've sent are received and acknowledged; that is, until you've proved your dependability to them.
