Is it important to include garment measurements in my shop? Is "Small, Med or Large" good enough???

I am wondering if it is really necessary (to get more sales) for me to put the actual measurements for each garment in my shop? I have them listed as Small, Medium, and Large...but not the inches like some shops have. Does anyone think this is really important? I really don't love the idea of having to measure 50+ garments in my shop, especially since I personally shop all the time and just grab size medium cause that's what I wear. I am just wondering if you guys think it is super important? I never look at the measurements of items. Do you???

If you are getting questions about the sizes, I would definitely do it. For people like me, who prefer to try clothes on before buying, I wouldn't chance ordering something online if I didn't think there was even a chance it would fit me. (I am petite & things are often too long for me) And many shoppers are lazy they don't want to convo you with questions & wait for a response. If they are ready to buy now they will move on elsewhere. It might be better to have the answer there for those that need it. ie waist size, bust & overall length. Plus it may save time for you later not having to convo multiple people.

I would think it would be important to list the measurements. Small Medium and Large means differents things depending on manufacturer and the time period during which the clothes were made.

I would say absolutely yes. Especially for vintage pieces. I don't sell, but collect, vintage clothing, and have found that sizes from past decades differ dramatically from sizes today. So as a shopper, I'd only buy if I knew the measurements. And to be honest, I would be too lazy when shopping online to convo...I might just pass over something if the listing didn't provide measurements.

It's always been my position to offer the shopper as much information as possible and that includes garment measurements. I don't want to rely on just S-M-L-XL because that can mean anything in any given decade. What I do is.....I have a stack of clothes, scarves, whatever....and work on that stack....measuring and noting the measurements as I list the item in my inventory book (yeah, it's pen and paper for me). During the measuring process I again look over the garment and note anything that I want to include in my listing such as a defect, i.e., loose seam, pull, or anything else the shopper needs to know to make an informed decision and nothing that can cause an "aha!" moment when they receive the garment. I think it all adds up to good customer service and I think potential customers appreciate it. Yes, it's time consuming, but when I take the 'assembly line' approach, it goes much quicker!
