Team Captain ***PLEASE READ***

As mentioned in our meetup thread...

At the suggestion of Kim, a helpful Etsy admin who I've shared several emails with, we need to choose a new Team Captain since our current Captain now has other obligations. The new Captain will then choose Team Leaders.

Our new Captain can volunteer for the position, or we can nominate our fellow Buffalo Etsians and vote. Kim has offered further assistance if we need it.

Please keep in mind that there is a lot of responsibility on the Captain's shoulders, and therefore requires a good amount of time and dedication to lead and support our team. There is more info on being a Captain or Leader here:
http://www.etsy.com/help/article/483#community_teams

Please share your thoughts in this thread. We will make sure your voice is heard at the meetup on the 18th, even if you can't attend.

Thanks for reading!

Carla, I think you'd be the obvious choice!! You are so involved, and so positive, you're so good with sharing and supporting other etsians. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Re: Team Captain ***PLEASE READ***

I think I would agree. I know i've been a farily loud voice in this team recently, but sadly would not have the time to devote to being captain..... Carla seems to have an organized, good handle on etsy, promotion ideas, and overall enthusiasm. I'd be very comfortable with her as our captain!

so how do we go about convincing her to be a nominee? =P

Re: Team Captain ***PLEASE READ***

You guys are great, thanks for the vote of confidence... but I don't think my enthusiasm for social media, promoting and "moxie" (love that word!) are quite the qualifications our team needs in a Captain. I'm a fairly new shop owner and I think we need someone who is better versed in all things Etsy.

I'd be happy to be one of the Team Leaders, but that's the new Captain's choice.

Thanks again!

Re: Team Captain ***PLEASE READ***

You ladies are correct, being a captain is harder then many of us might think. I am a leader for another team and it is hard coming up with engaging ideas and finding time as well.

I would love to help in any way to find a new captain.

I'm glad you chimed in, Julia!

I would like for everyone to consider Sara from Goldhawk Pottery for our new Captain. I've taken one of her CommunityEd classes, and she's knows Etsy inside and out---plus she knows all about doing craft shows, social media, NY State sales tax and all those other niggling things that are so important! She also has the right demeanor: enthusiasm tempered with thoughtfulness and good common sense. I think she would be a perfect Captain!

Sara, when you read this, please let us know if you would be interested!

Re: Team Captain ***PLEASE READ***

Hi all - I do think its time Buffalo had a team that meets face to face and holds events, etc. I would be honored to help lead this team, though I will absolutely need some help (meaning co-captains). I have been on teams in Washington, DC and Rochester, NY so I know how it works, and how we can make it work. I appreciate the kind words, Carla, and hope you and others will add your energy and enthusiasm to making this work. Hope to see you all on the 18th (see other thread about meet up!!)

Re: Team Captain ***PLEASE READ***

Congrats Sara! I've been wanting a real Buffalo team. When you're just starting out it's really difficult to find shows etc. Maybe now we can have a true collaboration of Buffalonians!
