How do I update categories?

I have been trying for 2 days to add a new listing, but I keep getting the message

We couldn't update this listing to reflect our new categories. Please update it.

I do I update?

The categories should come up automatically, somewhere below your title and above your price, if I remember correctly. They're drop down boxes. I'm not on my computer right now so I can't check it out for sure, though. I am going to assume that if it's not coming up automatically, there's probably a bug. Have you checked out the forums to see if anyone else is reporting a problem?

Thanks for responding Jessica. I have checked the forums to no avail.

The categories have changed and when I try to input jewelry-bracelts-bangles it won't accept even the word jewelry.

I'm hoping it is a bug....and unfortunately it is still a problem today.

So, the bottom line is I can't add any listings.

Hmm ... I just tried to add a listing and it worked OK to select those categories. Is renewing listings working? Are you on a phone or tablet?

Can you screencap what you're seeing when you try to add a listing?

I just tried it, too, and got jewelry >bracelets >bangles... it worked fine.

Don't ask Etsy admin.... they'll just tell you to clear your cache and restart your computer. :)

If you can wait til the weekend (yeah, right) I can come over and help you.

So weird. If you're making a new listing, try copying an old one instead, and if you were copying one, try just setting up a totally new listing from scratch and see if that helps?

A random thought: do you think you could be part of a beta group for new listings and categories? I don't think I've ever been part of one before - would you be told or given the chance to opt out?

I had the same thoughts, Jessica. Shaun tried copying a listing AND checked to see if she was on any prototype teams. Nada.
