Holiday Gift Guide - Call for List IDEAS

Hi Team -- Hopefully you have already read Sara's post about our new holiday promotion idea! I am going to be creating a survey to vote on future gift guide themes. Each selected theme will be our way of promoting team members' items, so make sure the ideas can incorporate a wide range of items and materials (including vintage!).
I am planning to organize the themes by month, so please follow the format below when making your suggestions! October has been already planned with the two topics: "Locally Made and Sourced Fall-Themed Gifts", and "Fall Entertaining and Family Gatherings", so we'll start with November and go to January.

I'll start with a few ideas to get us going.

November:
- Thanksgiving decor
- Hostess gifts
- Thanksgiving Dinner (items that make us think of our favorite part of the meal. example: a cranberry colored scarf to make us think of cranberry sauce, etc)
- Hanukkah gifts
- Items to stay cozy and warm during winter

December
- Gifts for teachers
- Coworker gifts
- Boyfriend/husband gifts
- Girlfriend/wife gifts
- Gifts for Mom/grandma
- Gifts for Dad/grandpa
- Baby/Toddler gifts
- Gifts for teens
- Gifts for college kids
- Gifts for "that person" (the one who is terribly difficult to buy for)
- Secret Santa gifts
- Stocking stuffers under $10
- Top 25 holiday gifts under $25
- Holiday decor

January
- Winter wonderland (something snow related: white, lace, snowman, snowflake, etc)
- Best way to spend an Etsy gift card that you got for the holidays
- New Year (2014 related, or something to do with time passing, new years resolutions, etc)

** Please add your ideas here by 10/18. I will organize the ideas into a survey posted in a new thread, and we'll vote from 10/21-10/25. **

Looking forward to putting together a list of great ideas!

I love the stocking stuffers idea (growing up my mom made our Christmas stockings a really big deal!) But I think there are so many options for what we sell. Let's hear some more ideas...

I like the stocking stuffer one too....I was going to suggest one for "gifts under $..." but you already covered that =0) . Maybe a few for specific "merchandise categories" (jewelry, home decor, art, etc...)

I will continue to brainstorm and try to come up with some to post here!

Re: Holiday Gift Guide - Call for List IDEAS

Erica reminded us of yesterday's Etsy Blog post on holiday merchandising. I think we're ahead of the game. They suggested 3 categories to consider: 1) gifts by price range, 2) gifts by recipient and the 3rd is by type below. I think we had considered all 3 already, but here are their examples by type:

Gifts by Type: Help shoppers understand how your line of products fits into their gift list by describing the types of categories they’re looking for. Major shopping categories typically fit into one of these groupings:

Decor and Entertaining
Gadgets and Games
Useful and Utilitarian
Personalization
Keepsakes
Novelty and Stocking Stuffers
Favors and Thank Yous

How 'bout gifts for pets? There are quite a few teamies who make cool dog & cat collars, food bowls, etc.
