Activity Button

I don't really understand what it means when you see that you have x number listed under activity and when you click on it and there's nothing new.

As an example: today I logged in and I saw 14 activities. When I click on it I don't see any more activity from my shop for followers. What's really strange is there has been no one viewing my items today at all. Not one single item was viewed today. Seems strange, even on slow days I have someone viewing at least a few items.

Maybe I just don't really understand what this means. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi MJ,

Here's an article that explains the activity feed:

Re: Activity Button

thanks Carla, that really helps alot! I have noticed a drop in views to my shop this week. Because I'm new to Etsy, I have nothing to compare it to. Do you notice a drop before a holiday like Easter or Thanksgiving? I would imagine that Christmas there is a lot of traffic right up until the last minute.

Another thing you might be able to give me some input is advertising. I created a Facebook page for my shop and I am on Pinterest, but I don't know if I'm reaching the right audience. Any suggestions, such as articles, etc.

Thank you for getting back so quickly.

Have a great Easter!

Re: Activity Button

Hi MJ,

There is a natural ebb and flow to etsy views throughout the year. Sometimes it coincides with holidays, and other times its for no reason at all. When my shop lays quiet for a couple days, I work on organizing and doing inventory on my shop and supplies, tweaking tags, titles and descriptions as well as creating treasuries and other marketing tools. I figure if I make enough noise about my shop, my views will go back up =)

Reaching the 'right' audience is definitely tricky. My first suggestion is to think like a buyer. Who is most likely buying your items? Why are they buying it? What are they looking for? What hobbies do they have? Where do they hang out? If you met them in person, what would you talk about?

For birdhouses for example, I would think that gardeners and other people who love playing in their yards would enjoy purchasing them for themselves or as gifts. I'm assuming the majority of them are female as well. Perhaps make more 'noise' about your shop on gardening or lifestyle/home decor blogs, or post gardening/outdoorsy tips and inspiration on your facebook page as well as your items.

the best advice i can give is to search google and search the etsy forums for information, ideas and tips. try a few things and see if you notice results. You can always try something different if you don't see the results you want!
