When is the best time to List or Renew Items?

This seems to be a topic that's popping up a lot so I thought it deserved it's own thread.

Is it better to list late a night when the American's are settling in for the evening or should it be in the afternoon before they all start listing themselves? What have people found to be the most effective?

I've only just started selling a couple of weeks ago but have read lot's of the storque blogs. There are some really helpful tips from various professionals. One of them mentioned that European sellers are best to list or relist their items in the morning to midday before the Americans get up. Depending on the states they live in they can ben anything between 5-8 hours behind the UK.
It just means your lisiting will be up for longer and customers get a chance to view it.

I've tested that theory. I relisted some items around 2-3pm Uk time and got 0 views. Traffic was so busy I didn't even get to see my item on recently listed!

I prefer to renew late to attract American buyers....I use 'clockbot' in apps to do this, because it would seem the best times are when we would be in bed....I set clockbot to renew a few items at between 7.30-8pm their time.....but I would like to attract more UK buyers, I'm gonna try renewing our time 7-8pm....We'll see how that goes!!

I just renew or list when i want now. To be honest there is so much stuff being renewed and listed all the time I'm not convinced the time makes much differemce now. It's changed quite dramatically in the year that I've been here.

Do you all find renewing items helps increases sales? I've never really tried this method, but finding things slow at the moment...

The reason I don't like the idea of renewing is that I assume you have to pay the listing charge each time, I'm guessing the cost of that cab mount up pretty quickly....

CLS, you do pay 20cents ever time you renew... but if you don't have anything new to list, it's a great way to push yourself up the search.

I list/relist/renew when I think of it... which is usually at about this time of day! But I don't really have a strategy as such.

I too have found that mid-afternoon UK time gets far fewer views... whereas if I renew now, I get more fews in a few hours.

I presume it's when America is switching on it's machines and browsing- but before other sellers over there have listed anything.

I am confused...Are you guys saying that the best time (GMT) is late at night or early mornig to relist?

I have tried it all times and I can honestly say I don't seem to notice much difference when it is done.Generally my sales (if there are any )are there when I log on in the am.So I do it when it suits me, usually evenings.After all you have got four months to hope somebody might find your item ,what difference is a few hours on day 1.
My philosphy now tends to be If it is going to sell, (hopefully) it will sell regardless of when you actually list it.

As regards re-listing specifically; sometimes I give things a rest for a while.The costs does mount though when your shop has say 100 items running and I do tend to forget to factor all this in when working out costings. You certainly need to bear it in mind--to save a shock when you view your etsy bill!

If you use FaceBook then keep an eye on when your friends sign on and use that as a cue to when people become internet busy.

As a newbie I'm really interested to hear everyone's views on this. I've been listing in the afternoons but will try the mornings now, and see if it makes a difference!

Although I'm sure it varies depending on what you're selling, are any experienced sellers able to give me an idea of how many views it can take before things sell? Tens? Hundreds?

AngelInMyAttic; my items don't get hundreds of views (only ones that do are as they've been listed previously!). It's just chance sales for me; the right person looking at the right time.
