Team Pinterest Thread

We now have our very own Pinterest Page!

All we need do is fill up some boards with some lovely items from our team members, so for starters:

Do we want a set of boards each themed around a type of item?

or

Do we want a monthly board that members submit their items to?

or

Would you like to see themed boards, seaside, city dweller etc?

Please let me know what you all think and I'll get the boards set up.

More details to follow as our baby grows:-)

I'm really enjoying Pinterest -a great source of idea's, and well, everything really! ha!
I think I'm still a little confused about how to benefit from Pinterest from a business point of view, as I thought the whole Idea of self-promotion on it was frowned on and against their ethics!!??? I've been very reluctant to pin my own items, and relying on Joe to pin a few selected items to the Team boards ??!! Can someone clarify please? or simplify the ways to go about it?? any input welcome!!??

I'm not sure about that either Ali! I always thought you should avoid self promotion and so was just suggesting a few items for Joe to pin.

Pinterest says "Pinterest is designed to curate and share things you love. If there is a photo or project you’re proud of, pin away! However, try not to use Pinterest purely as a tool for self-promotion."

Since I read that I have pinned a couple of my own things that fit in with my boards.

There are a couple of teams here on etsy where members can pin each others items to help promote each other.

I've been trying to avoid the price tags, as that just reeks of promotion. I have found that the price ones get less repins too.

I think as long as we keep our boards interesting then we should be fine with the whole self promotion thing, I re-pin and like when I do the boards and try to engage with other users so that should help. I think we just need to feel our way as I guess everyone else is doing too;-)

Ok I'm not here to suggest my items but is it OK to suggest ideas for a couple of new boards? One maybe called £5 finds (for smaller items) and a small gifts for him and a small gifts for her one. I feel like an 'at a glance' view of whats available in the these categories might be beneficial (especially gifts for him, I struggle buying presents) as it would save people trawling through search for smaller items they may just impulse buy if they think they look cool. Like that AT-AT, I would never have even thought to search for it, but I very nearly bought it cause I thought it looked cool.
