Postage Problems???

Is any one experiencing problems with parcels arriving or out going at the moment?

I have had trouble with a parcel not turning up for a customer as well as an item I have ordered for my self not arriving recently.

Is there a problem with Royal mail at the mo that I don't know about?

Can anyone recommend a good and cheap courier service for small jewellery items?
I find regular postal service a bit nerve racking for me!

Re: Postage Problems???

Hiya, I haven't experienced any problems (yet! touch wood!0)

Is it for things within the UK or internationally? For international deliveries you can check the International Incident Bulletin on Royal Mail to see if there are any particular delays to the country you are posting to : http://www.royalmail.com/customer-service/international-incident-bulletin There is a slight delay on items going to the US atm.

I'm afraid I haven't experimented with couriers myself, but will be interested in what other people's experience of this has been!

Re: Postage Problems???

There is a thread over on Etsy's UK & Ireland Seller Support Team where they are polling people about this topic at the moment- most people seem to use just Royal Mail but there are some suggestions for other delivery services on there. It is regarding INTERNATIONAL deliveries only though: http://www.etsy.com/teams/7332/etsys-uk-ireland-seller-support-team/discuss/11116575/page/1

Re: Postage Problems???

Yeah I've found that Royal Mail have been a bit slow lately. I've not found a courier service that matches Royal Mail's price on small light items (large letters and light packets), but if your items are around 1KG or more then I'd start looking at courier prices.

I'd recommend Collect Plus. Their prices start at £4 for a fully tracked item of 2KG with a 30x30x50cm size restriction. They take 3-5 working days to deliver and they've not let me down so far.

Hope this helps!

Re: Postage Problems???

Wow, thanks for the support guy's!

My parcel that I had sent eventually got sent back to me saying address not recognised? Even though the address had been re-confirmed by the customer?? Not sure what happened there?
I have now re-sent via special delivery and customer received it this morning, phew!

Just a heads up to the team though, whilst investigating my parcel problem I have since found out that Brighton still has a big back log at their main sorting office and also that 1st class, that usually takes 1-3 working days, can actually take up to 15 working days!!!
Hope they sort it out before Christmas, eek!
Good old snail mail eh!

As my new items are a little more expensive and elaborate now, I have decided to just use special delivery from now on and perhaps airsure for international deliveries.

Anyway, panic over this end.

Hope all is going well for everyone and have a profitable, problem free Christmas everyone!

Re: Postage Problems???

Glad to hear package finally arrived ok. I heard about MyHermes who deliver larger packages, not sure aout the cost, haven't gone down that route yet. My parcels are large-over a 1 1/2k sometimes and I have to use bin bags! Royal mail not let me down yet.
