New Years Resolution?

So I've decided on my new years resolution, and this time I am going to take it 100% serious.

In late August, I was rushed to the ER for an Emergency appendectomy and in late September became pregnant. As most of you know, we lost our baby on December 12th 2012. Not only have I been trying to heal emotionally, but from August to December I became drastically out of shape. I gained 20 pounds and was not able to Zumba each night anymore do to healing incisions and my high risk pregnancy,
Now that my body is pretty much healing, I am working on getting meself back into emotion and physical shape now.

I am proud to say, tonight was day three of my Zumba Regimen.
Day 1: I was only able to do the high intensity Cardio for 12 minutes, however burned 131 calories.
Day 2: 12 minutes was my max again and I changed up the songs and burned 124 calories.
Those nights I had a hard time sleeping due to achy and shaky legs and butt :)
Day 3: Improvement! My high intensity cardio lasted for 20 whole minutes and I burned 207 calories!

So there you have it, my resolution is to get back into both physical and emotional shape!

Truth time! My normal weight is around 135-140......however I am at 170 now. I cannot wait to come back here with updates, and look forward to seeing the progression of your resolutions!

I hope you all have a happy new year, I am off to shower as I stink after my work out.

Please feel free to come here and share your goals, accomplishments, failures and stories along the way!

Re: New Years Resolution?

Thank you Kristi :D They say exercise sends something to your brain that helps with emotions, so it's a double positive for me.

Re: New Years Resolution?

Update time!
Out of the last 2.5 weeks, I've only missed 3 days! (One because we had company and I was not going to Zumba in front of everyone, and the other two due to my lame allergies that came with the cold front) and I am finally seeing results! My butt has actually lifted lol, I've lost weight off the sides of my thighs, stomach, waist and my energy level is wonderful! Little things like getting up from the floor after playing with the kids is so easy!
I even think I may eventually look into becoming an instructor! Yay!

Re: New Years Resolution?

Keep it up, Elizabeth, you are doing AWESOME! My son was born more than three years ago, and I've yet to lose the last 30 pounds. I can't call it baby weight anymore, so I'm calling it toddler weight. =)) I'd like to lose weight, too, so hopefully I will follow your lead and get my bum in gear.

My resolution is to find validation internally rather than from external sources. I spent five years married to a man that used my need for approval as a method of manipulation, so - as we mark our second year separated and move quickly toward finalizing the divorce - I am learning to say NO and stick by my guns. I can't regret the marriage because we have our son, but I'm learning to find ways to learn from it. I also want to remain friendly with my ex for our son's sake, so me growing a backbone will help with that, too (I hope). Finding my Pollyanna moment (the perpetual silver lining even on the darkest of clouds) and watching my son grow into a kind kid have helped me to stay happy through some really tough times.

Re: New Years Resolution?

Lisa, what a FANTASTIC and BRAVE resolution!! You are so strong! Make that backbone of steal and hold your head always high!!
Children are such blessings when you experience a tough or emotional time in our lives. I have been there, with recent health news about myself, it's made me cling to my beautiful babies and enjoy every available moment. Seeing who we have helped to create, little personalities blooming and watching them grow into thoughtful and kind little men is a most beautiful experience.
