Re: What do you like to do with books?

That purse is amazing! I haven't tried to make anything out of a book yet, but I've been thinking of trying a project I saw on Martha Stewart's website where they made a wreath using old book pages cut into leaf shapes. It was gorgeous. Now to find an old book I'm willing to tear apart...

Thanks, and I've thought about making a wreath, but I can never seem to get around to finding a styrofoam base~

Re: What do you like to do with books?

While I think things made from books are awesome and I like them, I personally cannot bring myself to destroy a book in any way! I just can't rip one up! I love to read them and collect them though!

Re: What do you like to do with books?

I know! When my sister first saw one of my book bags she was like "You MADE that" and I said "Yeah..." She couldn't believe that I cut up an old book, but I only take the ones the library was going to throw out any way so...

Re: What do you like to do with books?

I think recycling an old book is good.. But I really have never heard of any library throwing out a book. I tend to agree with Amanda, I just can't bear to destroy an old book- even to make it into something nicer than it had become in it's old age.

Re: What do you like to do with books?

My library just finds old books that no one reads anymore, either out dated or the subject matter isn't popular anymore, and sells them for $3 for as many books as you can fit in a bag. Then, before I cut it up I check on Ebay etc to make sure there are plenty of other books around like it and it isn't too valuable!

I save the ones I will read again on my booksshelves or in boxes. The rest I give away.
