Fulltime or parttime

Hey everyone, I was wondering how many people here work full time in their own business and how many do it part time.

I started a few months ago with working full time on my business and I see that is slowly growing.

How is your business doing and did you find the best way to succeed with your business or are you still searching?

Re: Fulltime or parttime

Full time, but I also have a landscape company that needs very little oversight, my wife manages the day to day operations of the landscape company allowing me to focus on the growth of the blacksmith shop. We also have a working ranch that also produces some income. The landscape covers most of the living expenses, but my etsy shop is growing slowly and it paying its own way and helps with some of the living expenses.

Re: Fulltime or parttime

We work full time both on our shop, and our "regular" jobs. Until things grow more, we spend a lot of hours working...but, it is a labor of love!

Re: Fulltime or parttime

My employment background is a little funny so it is hard for me to tell what is full time employment and what is part time. Part of this is because I am a full time student but try to spend a lot of time making and experimenting with things. I guess that makes me only part time though... hmmm.

As for the successful-ness of my business, yes. My business has been very successful for a first year of business. Still working on workflow and the personal issues that slow me down though.

Re: Fulltime or parttime

I work full time at a regular job, I also run a Marine Upholstery business and am working on growing the leather business on etsy. It seem like I work all of the time. I have a daughter in college and that is what drives me. My shop has been active for awhile but it is only in the last couple of months that I have started making some headway ( and a couple of sale), keep working on it, you will get there. Keep tweeking your listings, great pictures, good titles , matching 2 or 3 word tags. Don't be afraid to cruise other shops and fav their shops and items.. Most of the time they will return the favor. This drives more tragic to your shop. You can follow up to 1080 shops. Take a couple day doing this exsersize and your tragic will exploded. Meanwhile someone might actually buy something. Don't just put it out there and wait. That will not work. Look at others shops and find what they did that speaks to you, modify your shop to do the same.
Hope this help a little.
