not sure where/how to get seen . . .

I am having a hard time getting any exposure for my shop. I have worked overtime on my seo -- using several different tags for similar items, and I am still at a loss.

It's sort of an identity crisus, I think people need to know what to use the colorful decortive ceramics FOR. Instead of looking for a colorful whimsical unique gift idea, are people really searching for a soap dish, a candle dish - holder , etc

I have tried every sort of combo -- just not sure where I belong most
even tried some ceramic category & some houseware & some home decor

any new ideas?

Re: not sure where/how to get seen . . .

I took a look. I see you have 435 likes (facebook) and 151 (followers). At this time, I would die for that, so you must be doing something right.

I like the photos, but do not know how to have a look see at the tags you are using. I am new at this too. Hope someone out there can let me know just how to do that.

I am new to this team and hoping to learn more about SEO.

Me oh my, Mary....

You have over 300 sales. Possibly you should be telling the rest of us what to do!

Re: not sure where/how to get seen . . .

Hi Mary! I see you are doing quite well, although sales do seem to be sporadic, which I'm sure is frustrating. Overall I think you're doing a lot of things right, but let's see if I can analyze your shop to make it a little better.

You mention that you aren't sure which category to put your items in. Have you taken a look at your Shop Stats to see which tags or categories get viewed most? You also should make sure to hook your shop into Google Analytics to get even more stats. Take a look at that every time you tweak something to get a feel for what's working and what isn't.

2 tips I have for you to make a better first impression:

1 --> Get a banner!! And I don't say this just because I sell them. Lol. Seriously though, if you saw a new store in your town that was in a nondescript, nameless building, would you go in?

2 --> Your photography is decent and has all the right angles, but the coloring is a bit dark and yellowish. I think this probably is due to taking your photos indoors. Try taking them outdoors in indirect lighting (not in the shade, but not in glaring sunlight either) at around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. The light is more even then so you should get good color and you'll get much better exposure than you could indoors.

Re: not sure where/how to get seen . . .

Thx everybody -- I'm not really a whiner just looking to improve my exposure
Only 100 hits a day seems low compared to SO many people that claims to get SO many more

And 300 sales in 4 yrs isn't THAT great -- I was just starting to really build up hits before the big etsy change

I have a banner (it's just different because it's half white) & I'm constantly working on the photos (ceramics are tough!) I think they get a little better every time.

You're right Jennifer, I look at the stats but I don't really read them right and and improve on the weakest areas

+ most all of my views are from etsy -- is that because you have to join? (REALLY wish we had guest checkout!)

I am looking for somewhere new to advertise -- recently joined LinkedIn and considering a Facebook ad --
would you link that to your etsy shop (for sales) or to your Facebook (for likes)?
