I am working on my tags. If someone uses a two word phrase (for example sunrise photo) in the search and I just have sunrise in my tags will that work or do I need to have the entire phrase for it to be found.

Thanks for the help. I just opened my store and am trying to figure out the tags. If anyone would like to give me some feedback I would appreciate it.

Hi Jodi, I think it depends on what the searcher keys in - you'd probably be found if some was searching for "sunrise photo" when your tag says "sunrise", multi word phrases are good I believe as you have more opportunity to be found: who would look for "sunrise" - not many.....who would look for sunrise photograph - many...

also, extremely important in searches:

Google looks at titles and descriptions (should be in first few words exactly what the item is i.e. "photograph"

Etsy looks at titles and tags - think like a buyer - what would they key in when searching for something. Good Luck

It also helps to add small variations of the same tag. Sunrise photo, sunrise photograph, sun photography, etc. I've had some luck with "accidental" misspellings of words. If I have a couple of tags to spare I misspell the word, the way a searcher may do it. I also know German and will sometimes add the german word to the tags. That helped a lot during christmas time.
