SEO Secrets: How to Rank #1 On Etsy & Understand Relevancy Search

I’ve compiled a list of everything you need to know for Etsy Shop SEO. It’s the best list you are going to find anywhere. Period.

Here is what you HAVE to do if you are going to sell on Etsy AND be extremely successful:

Requirement #1. Meet Ashley
Meet Ashley. Who is she? Ashley is your customer. Do you need to meet her face to face? No, it might help, but no. What you do need to do, is think about what ashley likes and does every time you EVER want to sell anything.

You MUST know who your customer is, what they want, and what they do. If you don’t then honestly, all the SEO in the world won’t help. Find out who likes your stuff, get to know them, know what they like and learn it so that you can reach out to everyone else like them i.e. All of your customers who are out there waiting for you to find them.

Requirement #2. SEO Your Tags and Titles
Your tags and titles MUST be optimized for Etsy’s New Relevancy Search. The biggest factors that YOU PERSONALLY can affect in the new Etsy Relevancy Search are titles, tags, & timing. We’ll ignore timing, as it doesn’t have as significant of a return and focus on the big two for the moment.

1) Titles
Here’s how you need to write your titles:

a.Use a Keyword or Adjective First
The first word is either the keyword or an adjective that would improve search rankings. For example: “flowers” could be “wedding flowers”.

Question about tag stuffing and repeating keywords - Our biggest selling items are our reusable sandwich and snack bags. There are a lot of ways people might search for that, such as:

reusable sandwich bag
eco sandwich bag
organic sandwich bag
blue sandwich bag
cotton sandwich bag
cloth sandwich bag
natural sandwich bag

I could go on, but you get the idea. Anyway, I've been using a lot of these in my listings, not all of them in the same listing, but at least 5 or 6 of them together, plus other keywords and keyword phrases. Should I not be doing this? Would it be better to just use "sandwich bag" once and use each other word as a single keyword?

you'll want to use "sandwich bag" as one tag
and then have other tags for the descriptive keywords
rather than just repeating tags over and over with the
phrase "sandwich bag"
