Keyword, Title Question

For tags, I have things like: "scented candles", "scented pillars" "red scented pillar" "red scented candle" "jasmine scented" "jasmine candle" etc... is that overkill on repetitive words? Do I only need to list them once? Should I have a few words that are single words instead of phrases?

Thank you in advance!

Re: Keyword, Title Question

Bumping to the top, really would like to have advice on this. Also, I've noticed a lot of people separate their words with commas in their title, is that advised?

Re: Keyword, Title Question

I'm also really curious about this.

I use commas and I've noticed when looking at how it will look in the Google ad, the commas and other punctuation is gone.

Re: Keyword, Title Question

I have seen other shops use caps on some words in their title. Does that really make a difference?

Re: Keyword, Title Question

Punctuation doesn't matter in terms of the SEO impact. You can use commas or the | (bar) character if you like... what really matters are the words you use and not separating important keywords. For example, if "red knit hat" had proven to be a good key phrase, dont write " red small knit hat", instead write "small red knit hat".

Your TITLE tag becomes your headline on Google, and as such, you need to write it as an AD headline. So write it in a way that will flow, while putting most important keywords in the beginning

You can use commas or other punctuation - but ideally you make it sound natural. I have also heard that long strings of commas or the Bar | character are give-aways to Google that you have 'stuffed' the tag with keywords, which may hurt you in terms of SEO.

Re: Keyword, Title Question

Google will strip all punctuation from the title so I'd suggest that you make your titles readable for human eyes and not computers since its humans that will be doing the searching

In the following title
"Two CUSTOM Unscented Pillar Candles 3 x 6 (20oz) Eco Friendly Palm Wax Pillar Charity Candle Bulk Sale Save on Shipping "

I would have written it ""Eco friendly palm wax custom unscented pillar candles""
and left out the 'charity candle bulk sale save on shipping' from the title simply because I'm not sure how many people would be searching for a "charity candle bulk sale" at all.

Personally I wouldn't consider two candles to be a 'bulk sale' at all. If I'm purchasing in bulk, I would be wanting probably 20 or more units.

I've found that item titles that read well are the ones most likely to be purchased and those that seem like 'word salad' with words repeated multiple times just get passed over.
