I am twinkly...and wow am I shocked!!

Hi :-)

I'm twinkly, I set up this group and also wrote the ecourse. I've put a note on the 'Day 1' post saying that this is my new Etsy username, as I was concerned that I might not be believed.

Regardless, I've obviously been out of the loop for some time, I had a very serious issue in my personal relationship and was able to keep to my Etsy commitments.

I'm so thrilled that this little group has kicked off so well, over 1,000 members is amazing!

I can see that some other leaders have been selected, I'd love to get involved again though, perhapsby writing an updated version of the e-course? Would anyone be interested in that?

Hi Katie! - Welcome back,

I certainly would be interested! I am a relatively new shop and any help is really appreciated. I know that I have a long way to go and especially need to build my inventory.

I read your blog and it is a great read - light hearted and friendly - sometimes everything seems too serious.

You definately get my backing!

Sarah, I would recommend in the first instance that you read and apply 1 & 2 in this link as it covers your entire shop and not just SEO/relevancy.

http://www.etsy.com/teams/7702/sassy-critiques/discuss/10092412/

Also join the team if you want further advice, plus of course you can post SEO related questions here. After that join one of the other SEO related teams that are operated by SEO experts. These two in particular are excellent, both are SASsy Mentors as I am and they have written expert resources which are constantly updated based on their own research on and off Etsy and in connection with changes on Google e.g. the recent Panda updates.

http://www.etsy.com/teams/10713/cindylouwho-team

As well as the resources they link to on their team pages they also link elsewhere and on top of that there are a lot of very helpful resources on the SASsy Blog and of course on Etsy. http://etsymentors.blogspot.co.uk/ The reason why no one has mentioned the Twinkly links for a very long time is that they are out of date, don't cover Etsy relevancy at all.

I know you weren't asking for a critique as such but I can see a few areas at a quick glance that you need to look at. Firstly change your location to the correct format or you won't appear in local searches. This has nothing to do with SEO but it will be a problem for you. UK locations are town/city, country, United Kingdom. Secondly your first part description is an exact copy of your title - this will hurt your SEO because it is a risk that the page won't be indexed as it is duplicate text. Plus it will look very wierd to a buyer coming across a listing on Google ie the url link and the text underneath say the same. Thirdly your tags are not written for relevancy - they need to be 2-3 word searchable phrases made up primarily of text from your titles.

Re: I am twinkly...and wow am I shocked!!

Twinkly/Katie - you need to take this up with the Captain and Leaders and not via a public thread, hence why I am going to close this. By all means update your resources but I personally don't agree that either your old or new version should be linked via the team as the resources mentioned to Sarah are current and written by experts who have been active on Etsy for the year or so you have been missing off Etsy. Also we have several active team members who are either SASsy Mentors with expertise or operate businesses specialising in areas like online marketing. By all means be a team member as it is afterall open to anyone.

This is retorical so no response is required but if your shop was closed by Etsy, and I am not of course saying it was nor would I want to know either way, you need to make it known to them that you are back on Etsy because there is probably as issue with disclosure - try integrity@etsy.com or trust@etsy.com If however you closed your shop yourself you should also contact them to ask if it is possible to reopen it. I believe that is possible in some circumstances.
