Do search ads work?

Are search ads worth the money - do they really drive sales or are they a waste. How do YOU promote/market your business?

I've run search ads a couple of times, and I didn't have much success with it. I have heard others rave about it, though, so I guess it depends on your shop and how you use it. I've put my listings on Craftori, that has brought me a good amount of views. :O)

If you can select keywords that are directly related you what you are selling, then yes Search ads do work.

But if you are selecting very broad keywords and phrases then they probably won't work nearly as well for you.

How do I market my business? I market directly to my target customer whether that be at an art festival or through other online venues.

I do get more views through the ad, no sales yet... I get some attention and sales through FaceBook and I'm starting an offline campaign again.

I tried it for a week and definitely got an increase in views but no sales. Thinking about trying again myself. I believe the more specific your tags are the better the number of impressions.

I think they can be good if you have a few specific things you want to prompt and advertise. I'm new to Etsy so I was curious about the search ads and if it was worth it for my shop. I tried it for a week. I promoted my whole shop, a certain section, and specific items at different times. They definitely helped bring traffic into my shop...traffic that I might not have gotten. Sales...no. I didn't spend a lot of money. I'm not sure if I would pay for them again.

I've generally experienced what you each described. More traffic, views and favorites but no sales yet. I'm not spending a lot of money, but I don't want to spend any if it isn't going to get me anything. Just updated my keywords so I'll be interested to see how (if at all) it impacts my impressions, views and favorites. will keep you posted.

I have been trying search ads since they started and today I canceled them. Year to date I have had 63 sales from search ads that cost me $636. So $10 a sale is money better spent on renewing in my expierence or some other means of marketing. For $636 I can find a marketing source that will yield better results.

I've not purchased any search ads but I do have a number of items where the search keywords match the available search ad keywords so I make sure that I use them in my listings.

I've had a number of direct sales as a result without spending any money on search ads.

With the search adds I have to say it did get me more views and some sales. I am going to be looking at more in the next couple weeks with the holidays coming up to see how cost effective it is.

I have tried it a few times. I didn't have much success with it. I find in my case just using good keywords gets me more sales. Sales is what really counts. Who knows it might work for you.

I stopped my search adds. Brought in views no sales from it. I have done a lot better with making sure my Titles and Keywords where good.

I just started using search ads yesterday. I'm not really sure if it's working. I have not had many views so I'm starting to think I have the wrong tags on my items or they are too broad.

crochetgal, what other online venues do you use? I've been wanting to do some marketing outside etsy, but not sure what would be effective.
