How do you know if you are being scammed?

Someone wants to buy a wholesale order off of me and they dont want to pay though paypal they want to send me a check. I insisted that they pay with pay pal and they ordered the item today and checked out with other, so I guess they are sending me the check. Does this sound scamish to you?

I would wait for the check to come and clear before I sent anything out, that does sound suspicious to me.

That does sound a little suspicious, especially since after all the squabbling they STILL chose "other". But I also know there are many people out there who simply don't like PayPal and refuse to use it. I'd say until the check clears, give them the benefit of the doubt and guess they're just squeamish about PayPal.

can you get rid of the "other" option? that might solve the problem, next time. Or state on your policy page that you will wait for the check to clear before sending product, I would,... just a thought...

Re: How do you know if you are being scammed?

Late to the question but definitely wait and do not accept personal checks, I was hurt that way and out and the fees were outrageous for bad checks. Do money orders instead! An electronic receipt is always better but even with say paypal for example the account can be misused and then you're out of money again.

Difficult again when people choose other, especially since there are other forms of payment (vouchers, google wallet/etc) but just be weary of outstanding or any demands or what would seem rude.
