Discussion

Thanks everyone for joining this group! If you're here it means you either buy or sell for BJDs ( or both ) and we'd like to thank you for your participation. Now we know generally the things that we'd like to do with this group but we'd also like to hear everyone's input on the matter. Generally we want to help make Etsy an easier place to buy and sell BJD items.

Now we know there's a sub category of Dolls and Miniatures > Art doll > Ball Jointed Doll but this is a very general section. Unlike other categories where you can choose fashion dolls apparel and select from specific dolls like Barbie, Blythe and Pullip. We'd like to make a section under this category for Ball jointed Dolls specifically for starters.

We'd like to hear from our members the concerns they'd like this group to address as well. Keep the discussion clean and respectful, thanks!

Re: Discussion

I've thought of something that will help out buyers and sellers, not an Etsy changing thing which is soon to come, but it will help. I think maybe we should come up with a list of tags that we feel we search the most and are the most relevant. So shop owners will know exactly what to put to have their products be found and buyers will find exactly what they want. This said list will need different sections based upon all the types of things that are for bjds. I think this would be a vital tool to create for ourselves, and would also greatly improve search results by itself and along when we get Etsy sections changed. How does everyone feel about this? I think it's the first smaller step to get Etsy more BJD friendly.

Re: Discussion

wow, 5 years selling BJD on etsy and I didn't even know they had BJD actually listed hidden in the categories....

It definitely needs to be up higher at the least in the chain.

Re: Discussion

WOAH WOAH WOAH are categories are completely gone! My items were moved into toys and games?! I don't think so!

Sorry for the unprofessionalism but I am just astounded. These changes are completely opposite of not only what we wanted, but others as well. Please can we have some contribution to this topic? To be a member of the team you don't have to participate but a little would be great. The doll category is now just straight up dolls, no art dolls, no fantasy dolls, no BJDs. It's just dolls underneath games and toys. This is a terrible change, a giant leap backwards if you will.

Re: Discussion

Give them feedback here: https://www.etsy.com/taxonomy-feedback

I selected the toy category and suggested that it should be split, and went on further to explain that the dolls and miniatures category should be resintated (cause miniatures is in the same boat).
I said that the majority of items in these categories aren’t suited to children so need to be moved for legal reasons (some people on the forums are saying that in the EU and UK they can’t even be listed with kids stuff legally), and also suggested that dolls be split up into type (ball jointed dolls, art dolls, reborns, blythe, fashion dolls, american girls, etc) and that then they each have their own sub categories for clothes, wigs, shoes, accessories and so on.

Re: Discussion

I completely agree with Mon's suggestions above and I just sent in my feedback suggestion that we need to keep the categories for art doll, BJD's etc and added a few suggestions for other categories as well ( Blythe Customs etc) as well. The sub categories are also a great idea.
It is ridiculous that they are just putting everything under toys and games. I explained that these dolls are not toys but customized collector dolls for adults. They really have no clue sometimes and even though I did figure out where the categories for dolls was they were pretty hard to find so lumping us all into toys and games is of no help to us at all.
We all need to complain or it will not change. :)

Re: Discussion

So they've made a dolls and minatures category under art and collectibles, but doll clothes aren't included. I'm unimpressed, but also not surprised. I sent the admin that notified me a message about it, so we'll see what they say.

Re: Discussion

The category i search for would be lucky charms for my elf bjd Realpuki, but only Toys and games no dolls specification can't help to make us find in a better way.
This is not a toy for children just for people are spiritually and doll collecting lovers, could alo be in a decoration category, because i have my Pukis on the table on wood, so she is real decorative.
The categories generally by etsy are thin...

So would be good to come together as a group to Etsy.
Do you think this is possible.
I enjoy this group as a new member, but be hopefully that we can make changes for bjd doll lovers.
In this way- have a nice evening

Re: Discussion

Who like the new Etsy shops design?

Particularly, I don't like the new design. The proposal was turn shops more customized, but I believe the results was the contrary. I can't even customize my shop policies. I guess the shop page is loading more slowly. I also think visually the shop look less organized. I liked more the shop design as were before.

What you think?

Re: Discussion

I agree Priscila, it looks like a mess and more of a social network page rather than a shopping site. It's really off putting for me personally, I wouldn't want to shop on a store that looks like that. Etsy is where I come to buy many things, mostly doll things, and I think I'll have to go elsewhere. I get the feeling that many other sellers and buyers will feel the same.
