Sending Glass

One of my framed sales arrived with broken glass! I was so upset as this is the majority of my stock. Anyone got tips on sending it safely without extra postage cost?

Re: Sending Glass

Ouch, that's bad news.
Unfortunately I don't have any useful tips except for a few layers of bubble wrap and strapping that down tightly with masking tape.

Re: Sending Glass

Thanks Marta - researching on the net seems to suggest I need to do a box within a box filled with foam. Just hope it doesn't blow out postage costs!

Re: Sending Glass

Hi jay
We use a double wammy idea first lay styrene or cardboard over the glass surface and bubble wrap then sandwich the whole thing in more cardboard. Above all do not forget a big red felt tip pen, write glass with care and the wine glass symbol is international. The postage is usually cubed so make your own box out of old stiff cartons. All our mosaic mirrors survive.

Re: Sending Glass

Thanks for the advice. I was told at the post office that all the sorting is done automatically on conveyor belts which then drop the parcels down into sacks or containers - so something 20kg could fall on top of my parcels. Oh well, I have parceled up my piece of glass with foam, bubble wrap, cardboard etc so hopefully arrives in tact!
