Introducing myself.

Hello to everyone! I am new to Etsy and this team, but I was told joining teams was a good thing to do on here so here I am. I was really happy to see there was one for artists with disabilities. I just wanted to say hi, since I just joined and I figured I should at least try to be a little friendly. Anyway I'll do a small introduction bit too. My name is Del and I have Aspergers, as well as Lyme Disease, and depression. My Lyme keeps me from being too active most of the time so I decided to try to start making crafts and seeing if people would buy them. I also just really enjoy making patches and other stuff. I go on hikes and stuff when I'm up to it, but mostly I stick to non-strenuous activity.

I uh, I actually am terrible at writing intros because I can never decide what information I should put in it, and I've just hit a wall for figuring out what else to say.

But hello, I am now a part of this group.

Re: Introducing myself.

Welcome to the team. We all understand the "intro" bit. What kind of treatment are you on for the Lyme's? My ex had it for 20 years before they realized that was what he had. Once he received the treatment, he was a lot better. He still has bad days, but nothing like prior to the treatment. Good luck with your shop. The art will help your spirit, as well :)

Re: Introducing myself.

I am currently under no treatment at all, actually.

I had a lot of recent reconfiguring of my health insurance so I'm seeing my old doctor again soon (My not as old, more recent doctor was one of those people who thought my lyme symptoms were because my sleep schedule is off. Yeah. Great doctor.) and hopefully getting different treatment... I got lyme when I was 2, and went into remission when I was six after taking a whole plethora of meds. (I don't actually remember what they were, except one of them was this vivid yellow syrup that had to be taken with high fat content foods so I got to eat a lot of ice cream as a child) But it came back when I was 14, and I've been in and out of treatment (due to health insurance adventures and different levels of Lyme aware doctors).

I should be starting new meds within the next month or so, though.

And art is definitely very helpful for my spirits. Thank you for the good luck wishing.

Re: Introducing myself.

Hi Del,
I'm new also, and I know what you mean about what to say as an introduction, but I found yours very interesting. Love your banner, and good luck!

Re: Introducing myself.

Hello. I would say welcome, but I still feel too new. So semi-welcome! And thank you for the good luck wishing and banner compliment. I'll tell my cat that someone else also likes it.

Re: Introducing myself.

Welcome Del,
Several people in my family have suffered with lyme Disease but as adults. It's been very hard to get a diagnosis even in areas known to have a large population of deer ticks. I don't know why that is. I hope you get some real help. My relatives did and finally felt bettter.

Re: Introducing myself.

Thank you. I have a doctors appointment within the next week. So hopefully things will move forward as far as treatment goes. Where I live, there is a huge deer tick population- especially in a state forest down the street from my house, but it is still hard to get good treatment for Lyme. Thank you for the well-wishings.

Re: Introducing myself.

Hi Del,

I'm new as well. I think I will post an intro too. Anyway I have fibromyalgia and it's kind of like lyme, I run out of energy quickly and it leads to pain.

I'm glad we are both here, I'm sure it's a wonderful way to get support. So as one new member to another, welcome. :-)
