Watermarks?

I've read a number of posts where people report stolen images.

-What do you think about watermarks?

-What software/ how do you do watermarks?

Re: Watermarks?

So sorry I didn't see your thread sooner! I don't do watermarks on mine, although I think it's a good idea to! Did a bit of research and found this site- http://picmarkr.com/ perhaps it will work for you... let us know :)

Re: Watermarks?

I use photoshop elements for mine. I don't like using them either because they're distracting but I felt it was a necessity.

Re: Watermarks?

I've been debating using watermarks. I haven't used them up to now, but I'm thinking of adding them to protect my images.

I'm torn, because unless you slap the watermark across the middle of the image, it can be cropped out, and your work can still get stolen. But maybe that's overthinking things...

Re: Watermarks?

Rachel, I tried to use it- picmarkr.com I didn't follow all of it, but I'm going to sic my husband on it- he's more computer savvy.

Jennifer, what did you mean, you use photoshop for it? Picassa?

Re: Watermarks?

Sorry I took so long to get back! I use photoshop elements to put a watermark on my paintings. You have to buy it but it doesn't cost anything close to photoshop.

Re: Watermarks?

Thanks, Jennifer. Someone else mentioned picmonkey. I never heard of it.

Re: Watermarks?

I haven't heard of that one either. It's worth trying. I also try to make my images small enough so that if they were to be printed they won't look good. It's hard though because I still want them to look clear enough to see them on here.

Re: Watermarks?

I watermark mine very subtly. That way it doesn't take away from the image and when/if someone tries to steal the art they may not notice it's been watermarked. Then they've successfully stolen and reproduced an image of mine with my cg sig in it ;)

Re: Watermarks?

Morgan, I like it. How do you watermark yours subtly? The one I tried was really "in your face"
