The Next Step?

What is the next step after setting up my shop...not getting any views, let alone sales. I have read the Etsy handbook, I'm such a rookie at this!

Re: The Next Step?

You aren't getting any sales because you are lost in the vortex~~~~~~~~~~no one can find you to view your beautiful paintings.
Sending you a convo.
Are you painting and listing more to come in your shop? Or want a mix of your minatures also?

Re: The Next Step?

Hi, Donnarose :)
Yesterday's views were the lowest of lows. Lower than the first week I opened up years ago. Wondered if there was some bug? (Swat*Swat)
Donnarose, you'll be selling soon because you have been creating fabulous work to add to your wonderful paintings listed already.
I am so far behind and delinquent in refreshening the shop since new year.
As well as my participation here with the team. ;(

Re: The Next Step?

Melidas, I can learn from you and your landscapes of aspens ~ lovely they are.

There are plenty here more qualified on the team to help you as well as venture to relevancy teams. There are only ....what is it 9,487 teams? (grins)

^ Typical traditional Etsy forum handbook response. Join a team for etsy shop accessment, etc. I remember my first critique and it was grueling. ;(

:) see convo

Re: The Next Step?

Tammy, my advice is to keep painting, drawing, and listing product. (I really like your "Wave", btw) Then as you get more items, put them into the "sections" to make for easier viewing.
My sales are way down from a year ago; also used to get in treasuries quite a bit, but seldom nowadays.
It seems like Etsy recently has become flooded with sellers, including several artists, making vast competition to make a buck.

Re: The Next Step?

If there were some magic to selling, I sure wish I knew what it was! :) Just keep creating, and listing. The more you do, the better they get, the more you list, then the more looks you get, and potentially buyers. I've been told that there is a buyer for everything, and that everything will sell (eventually).

I'm still waiting... and, while I wait, I paint. I'm also not counting on Etsy for my income. Branch out and try different venues.

Re: The Next Step?

I had a similar question (my shop is new and I want to do my best to get selling). Obviously I need to list more stuff (working on that), but there are no more tricks to it than that?

Trish suggested branching out and trying different venues... But that would mean listing less pieces here, right? Wouldn't that cut down on Etsy traffic?

Re: The Next Step?

I used to say my shop is like a needle in a haystack among so so many fabulous shops.... you need to find a way to be "seen" within etsy... until I find a better one... Treasury making for me has been the only way to make that happen. You may want to consider joining some treasury making teams.

Oh there is the "Browse" section. You need to make sure you tag your items according to the words and phrases that Etsy is using. Check out the browse section to see where your items will fall. Make sure your tags are repeated throughout the body of your item's description as well as your item tittle. I call it the "trifecta" of tagging.

For example, you don't have necklace anywhere in your item tittle... this cuts down on your relevancy in the "browse" section as well as when people are coming on hear and searching.

Oh and once your tags are in order it also helps to renew your items frequently.

Your shop work is so pretty! Good luck :))

Re: The Next Step?

Hi guys . . . About 3 months ago the South African team that I belong to asked if members would like to partake in an Etsy School partnering programme. They said that it would only take about 2 hours a week to complete and it was for 4 weeks. . . It was very beneficial though it took me a lot more than 2 hours it was such a learning experience for me. I partnered with someone who lives close by and fortunately she was amazing . . . Had very little change to her shop but she helped me tramendously. I have had about 5 or 6 sales since then (which for me is amazing) . I've taken to upgrading my pictures and wording on all my listings as they come up for renewal. It's very much still a work in progress. Just to give you an idea of what it's about . . . Here is the link to the worksheet that we used

https://blog.etsy.com/fr/files/2014/01/Etsy_Partnerguide_EN.pdf?geo=international&utm_medium=social_...

Treasuries are still the tool that bring most traffic to my site . . . I belong to TenX which is a promotional treasury team with not too much pressure.

Re: The Next Step?

It looks as though we could all use a push in sales, and maybe advise from those selling well. Tammy I saw your shop and your items are intricate and done with care. I love the bright colorful background of your items to help them pop. So far I learned that when I add more items I get sales, or at least views.

Re: The Next Step?

I think it takes patience and lots of hard work! I think (I know) I spend more time promoting on social media then I do painting! Making connections and building relationships online is important too. Good luck and happy sales! :)
