New challenge

There are 4 of us that are going to do a small challenge of a rose bud.
If you would like to join us leave a message here or convo me. I'll send you a photo of the rose bud.
Due November 23, 2013
Please don't post until the 23 rd.
We all want to see how we each of us translate the rose into a painting. We don't want to be influence by each other.
We can all put the paintings on our Facebook to help promote each other and so others can see how we all interpret the same photo.

I hate my own own challenge.
For some reason Roses are so very hard for me.
I tend to paint alla prima......so things need to start working pretty fast
Now sure what I will show everyone.
It was suggested to me to paint one in acrylic......we'll see

Nope, I won't be able to do this one. We'll see about the next one... looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with, though!

I cant believe it but I finished my rose today - busy waiting for first coat of varnish to dry then do another coat.. . . hosting a Christmas dinner party for 12 next week so need to get my act together and focus there. Was 32degrees C here today so drying very quickly.

I was gifted a King of Protea plant when I was unaware of this gorgeous plant. I have an enormous appreciation for them and especially attempting to paint one.

Sheri and others . . .You may all be interested in the wippawool.com site . . . Free for artists. . . For years it was the only web I used . . And was a good connection for me to other artists and an invitation to display my art and photography at two exhibitions. . . It is administered by a young man who's mom is a South African artist.

Re the dinner.. . Bacon and cherries, prawn ring cocktail, roast leg of lamb, gammon and chicken with smashed roast potatoes, rice, baby spinach rocket cranberry strawberry and feta salad, sherry trifle and mixed berry pavlova. All the ladies are sharing the load . . Wear something red (men and ladies).

Sadly my rose has not turned out anything like the protea . . Rose painted in two days . . Protea two months.

And no stupid rose by no means. It definitely lived up to the word Challenge.

RB 2. single tree with leaves (2) X image
SW 3. single flower of choice (4) X image RE: O'Keefe ala flower
SK 4. Piece of fruit or vegetable (3)
ASK 5. Moving dog (1) (I can provide a picture or it can be optional)
MGC 6. single bird feather (1) your choice of bird, or make one up. X image

I'm not on facebook yet, so here's my rose. I actually enjoyed working on it because the photo was so beautiful. The play of light on the rose was gorgeous!
