A big shot out to Rachel and Trish for helping with the team
We really want to make our team more lively and share and encourage each other with our art.

Off for awhile to vac. Windows. Our window washer is coming this week to wash inside and out before the snow flies. Doesn't it sound uptown fancy to have your windows done. Well far from it. With hubby having only one leg and the other off above the knee, up and down a ladder is really a chore. And basically I don't want to do them and I'm not good at it. I'm not going to try and get better either. Senior citizens shouldn't have to do windows.

I was thinking that maybe ones who would like could do a paint along.
I don't know if that is a good way to say it.
But where we can all paint a small painting of the same thing and see what we all come up with. I was thinking of a flower. I have tons of good photos from my mamas yard in Calif. and ones I've taken from my flowers.

Yep, Sheri... I started the "challenge" thread several months ago. I love a good challenge, it gets my creative juices flowing. But, only a few of us joined in and it fizzled out quikly. (tiny tear of sadness)

Rachel and I are going to try really, really hard to get people more involved. Let's make this the Team that everybody wishes they were in!!

Well, Sheri... what would I do without your informative emails? (Miss half of what happens that's what!) You send me the news, I check it for facts or vice versa :) It would be AWESOME if Etsy started offering phone support... and it's kind of ridiculous that they don't already.

I loved watching the challenge Trish started a bit ago, but certainly couldn't keep up myself... lol... it was fun to see what people came up with! If we do it again and a flower is the challenge.... well... just expect some abstract from me, lol! Florals are not my strong suit either, but I think Trish is right about how it helps grow each of us :)

As for games.... I have a maybe too involved kinda unique one.... has anyone heard of Round Robin? One person would start a painting by doing the background then pass it on to the next who would continue it by adding another element and so on and so forth until you have a completed painting by all the team artists.

Of course the downside would be the different mediums we all use and the fact that we'd have to ship the piece to each other. But then we could post a pic of the progress. I know, I know... it's involved... but the child in me thinks it would be great fun and a nice long term project for us!

Hey Everyone!! I haven't posted in the group in a Long time..( bad girl )
....and I kind of have fallen out of the mood to paint...so, why not tell me all the things all of you do when you just don't feel like painting ?

For one thing maybe the problem is I am into working with metals now and making jewelry and things....But I do Still love to paint...I plan on keeping both of them up....I do have a painting in progress right now but when I look at it, instead of feeling like " ooh I want to paint now" - I feel blah " I just don't feel it".


So guys and girls, what do you do to get yourself back into painting or do you just wait it out till it strikes again ?

Rachel, that would be a blast! I think it would work better just between a small group that could be trusted to add and ship it back out.

Hi Donna! I've been slacking a lot lately, too! I think summer always does that to me. Metal work sounds like a lot of fun!

Trish, I do the same thing! I paint even when I don't feel like it. BUT if I'm working on a piece that gives me that "blah" feeling then I start a new one and put it out of sight for a few days.

Usually, though, between my two kiddos and their schedules, I am DYING to get to the easel each day. Such a stress reliever.

You're right, Trish, about the Round Robin thing. Starting with a smaller group of artists on the team would be perfect. We'd have to figure out a size canvas and who might be interested before beginning.

Donna P., how fascinating to fall into metal works! In awe of you pursuing and loving it. Don't give it up. Why not paint your sketches for your metals and jewelry and things? It'll get you going again. Your energy is being exactly where it wants to be, naturally. Glad to hear from you. Personally, I have to paint ~ it's my adrenaline like a runners high. :)


Rachel, Love the Round Robin challenge. How about a rolled up canvas to place in a tube for cheaper postage? 20x20 size Hah ~ more brush room.

Rachel, the Round Robin game would be fun... and, interesting to see the finished piece. But then, what happens to it? And, how would we share photos of it?

I'm trying to figure out ways to get more of our Team Members to participate in these discussions. Seems everyone participates in "New Listings" and that's great, I love to see everyone's work, but not on "Discussions". Sigh.... I guess not everyone is as chatty as some of us.

Susan, you're right! I know people say that views from the forums are "empty" views but I'm not so sure of that anymore. I started posting in the forums one week and made my largest number of sales that week, too! I find that I get tired of the negativity in the forums sometimes, though. People are not always so nice :/ Hope your mood is improved today!

Trish, I think Sheri's idea of having 4-6 separate canvases and working in each one would be cool... then everyone would come away with a piece! I don't know about only 2 weeks time restraint, though... my oils have been taking up to 2 weeks to dry lately. Humph.

I'm already sitting on STICK-ON Canvas (not applied HAH) it's kindah' neat it has an adhesive backing to apply to walls/glass ,etc. 8x10 canvas sheets Don't know if it'll like watercolor so much...maybe GESSO it first before watercolor application?
So, how many? Or do you want that choice of adhesive? Can get other kind if you don't like the gimmick?

************Trish, I was thinking about a donation. It will be a communal canvas so we should either donate to chosen charity.....or list it in the shop in behalf of our team. I noticed recently shops doing this?

SK- I could add a great one to the "rudest comments I've ever received"! I think I talked about it on here a while back. Some people can be so mean, but I've moved on and believe that she was just a very bitter lady.

I like the idea of the pay it forward treasury. I try to do that already by including the person in my next treasury and also favoriting their shop and maybe pinning some things. That would be a nice thing to start on here.

I also like when teams show support by hearting other member's listings. They usually require that you "heart" five previous shops listings before you post something. But if there aren't a lot of listings posted I go through and heart them all. It's not hard and if everyone returned the favor that would be good for everyone. On here it's all about being seen and it's hard. If we work together as a team we can all gain from it. One requirement would be that you have your settings public so that people can see when you heart something.

Let's do it, Sheri... but perhaps wait till Donnarose is back before getting it started? I think donating the final piece is a GREAT idea. We'll just need to agree on where or who it should be donated to.

In the next week or so if ppl are okay with it, we'll start a thread for those interested to check-in/sign up and figure out who's first. Sheri, I'll contribute to the $$ to buy the canvas, too. Are you thinking individual canvases per number of people involved or one canvas total?

I'm rather optimistic in believing that given the participation on this Round Robin Canvas Challenge aka Pass the Canvas Please whoever begins and ends we can continue this tradition therefore everyone will eventually get a turn to purchase the canvas.
All agreed the canvas sheets (w/ or w/out those canvas adhesive?) I will see again how much they cost. There are 4 to a pack 8 x 10 at Michael's.

Individually (4-6 canvas for / bubble wrap 8x10?)

OR

1 (4-6 participants for rolled up canvas tube 20x20)

Haven't revised the canvas game just yet folks. It will need some tweaking f/ my class days for us. :)

Rachel ~ don't you still have some of those new oil paints/water soluable? I thought you mentioned me trying instead of acrylics? If so wouldn't those work for this group project?
We must go canvas only cuz of the expenses of shipping ~ need I remind us of that. OR
what a sec.....whoever begins could certainly unstaple and assemble upon completion. ??? If agreed on listing as a donation then this would bring more money?

Shall we decide on this now or wait for Donna Rose on the details?
